Music Player without iTunes

  1. I want a mp3 player but I HATE iTunes. I've used some other brands like iRiver and Zune but they kinda suck. I can't seem to find a good answer online but, is there a way to use an iPod without using iTunes? like if I get a cheap old iPod off eBay can I hack it so I can just use it as a drag and drop? or load winamp or something?

Can I load ubuntu or a mobile Linux OS on an iPod Touch?
Maybe i'm missing a brand of mp3 player.are there any other brands that make decent players?

help me GCSV, you're my only hope.

  2. Stop off at radioshack they got cheap mp3 players best is 4Gb

  3. What kind of phone do you have? Why cant it be your mp3 player? Im fairly certain WMP will sync with almost anything. Theres always the old drag and drop.

  4. yeah i haven't jumped into the smart phone century yet. if i did, i'd just use the groove shark app.

Unfortunately that's not free unless you want to fill out a million surveys every month, but there is an unofficial grooveshark client application for android called tinyshark.

  6. Media Monkey is the best. You can use it to transfer songs between an iPod and computer, and it's awesome and free.

This one is pretty cool. It also will help you get album info and artwork. And help you sort your music.

  8. While I can't answer your question, I would like to know why you hate itunes so much.

It's a resource hog for your computer. I crashes all the time. It is very very picky about what types of music/movies files of will accept. If you move the music, its not smart enough to look for where it got moved to and you have to go find it manually.

A lot of other players do all of things and more. Itunes is not that cool.

  10. I've never had any of those problems but I guess I don't really do any of those things. The itunes store has been pissing me off though. It doesn't load and the only fix I found that worked doesn't work for the latest update.

  11. Why do you use the itunes store anyways? There are so many better ways to buy music/movies/whatever else you want.

  12. I don't buy any music from itunes. I buy it on other sites but sometimes when they don't have the album and the file didn't come with cover art I have to look up the song and I choose an album by the same artist they do have. I just do it so all my music on my ipod has cover art, because half the time I can tell what song it is just by that.

  13. Use media monkey. It will find all of the info for all of your songs automatically. It is a pretty sweet program.
