Mum v Dad, whats your opinion.

Discussion in 'Real Life Stories' started by p42082, Dec 8, 2012.

  1. Ok guys, in England, a boy has brain cancer, his mum dont want him to have radiotherapy but his dad wants him to have the treatment. His mum ran away with him to stop this, she feels he will suffer in the long term, she wants him to have natural medication. Docs say the boy will die if he dont get the treatment soon, if the parents cant agree the court make a decision.

    Whats your opinions blades.

BBC News - Court delays ruling over brain tumour boy Neon Roberts

  2. obviously they should listen to the doctors.....also im pretty sure they're quite good at directing the radiation onto the tumour

I agree, but it brings up that argument that the child belongs to the parents, who is the court to get involved. Im not saying i dont agree with the court getting involved, it just brings this point into it i think. The docs can tell the parents what they should do, but then it becomes down to them, if they want to fuck about with their kids life they should be prepared to face the consequence. The child is theirs not the courts after all.

This article will tell you the story a bit better.

Also the tumour has been sucsessfully removed, but docs still insist he needs radiotherapy.

    ...sexist jokes are fun

  9. trust me mate its much better to have a thread die than to have it turn on you.....count yourself lucky....anyway its like 80% yank here anyway and thats uk news.....maybe you might have got a better response in pandoras box

  10. Bob Marley chose natural treatment over the doctors advice. Rip
    Usually doctors know best.

  11. The child is the one that has to endure it but you really do not have much say until you are considered to be an adult.

If I was the kid I would hope my parents would not mind seeing me sick for a little bit with the potentiality of being well again.

  12. There's a reason they been to school to be a doctor for a long time. Shitt, chemo and weed. I vote dad

I think natural medicine can be beneficial for some, and i have heard stories about people curing their cancer with will power.

The thing is, the non natural treatments and medicines we have today are quite harmful in the long term, but it does prolong ur life from cancer and has had a lot of professional research gone into it.

I think the smart thing to do would be to take the doctors advice and have the treatment done. Especially since hes a young boy.

For terminal illnesses like cancer, i think synthetic meds / treatments are a must. She can keep her son on a natural healing healthy diet along side the treatment.

I feel like natural medicines need to be taken over a long period of time in order for the body's immune system to strengthen itself from the nutrients and for the body to adjust the new intake. I think they work better for things like colds and flus.

  15. I agree with the mom wanting him to have natural medication because it actually works unlike kemo or radiation which poison your body but it's not right of her to run away with him

  16. Im with you given the fact the boy dont have the brain tumour anymore, the mum isnt against the treatment, but she only wants him to have it if the cancer returns. The docs want him to have it now, im not sure if that makes sense since they removed the tumour.

  17. No sense for the therapy? Hahahahahaha
Did you forget, doctors LOVE money? Most don't care and abuse their power and title as a doctor.
Give that poor boy some hemp oil woman, but don't run away! Shit... that's like kidnapping?

  18. Thats very true.

  19. Given that this is the UK and the treatment will be under the NHS and therefore free... part of your argument falls down.

I agree with the consensus, although there may be evidence of natural medications and alternative treatments working, the best route is still to listen to people who have the most experience with this, and that'd be the doctors. I don't think it's the parents right to give or deny treatment though, since being kept alive is a basic human right; otherwise if a parent didn't want a kid they could just refuse treatment for a terminal illness which would be pretty fucked up.

  20. Didn't know bout that NHS thingy ^ ma'bad....
But stilln shits unecessary... I'm pretty sure they're still gonna get a paycheck for it though
