hey all. well fall is approaching and i want to be sure my babies are warm enough to finish in time. i was wandering how much mulch would help to keep the soil/plant warm. i know the roots will be warmer ,but will the actual plant see the benefits of mulching as well? is it worth it? i have no problem doing it, but if it will have little to no benefit, i wont bother...? if so, what is the best type of mulch for warmth? thanks alot
Mulch wont do anything to keep your plant warm. All mulch is for is to keep the soil in good condition and for water retention. Dont worry about your plants getting too cold, if theyre more than a couple feet tall Im sure they can take a frost or two, theyll just turn a little purple.
I think he is referring to when mulch is piled up it has alot of active bacteria producing heat, what i think he wants to do is scoop some out with a shovel and cover the ground around the stem/roots. I seems like it would give off steam wich would condense on the cool plant and freeze. I am not shure how well cannabis does when the ground freezes, i would not be suprised if it varies between strain.
Your plant will be fine, and even if it does get cold, this is when you get some awsome fall colours through the crop.
