I posted a picture of everything I have, I want to grow very high quality top shelf bud. I have very little experience growing indoors and I’m aware that coming into this expecting to grow exotic plants, is not how it works. I’m aware this could takes years of practice and trial and error, but I rather aim as high as I possibly can and come up a little short than going for average stuff. The more I put on my plate right away, the quicker and more I’ll learn. The point of this post is though, I want to know everything I don’t have that that’s not listed on that picture that is essential to have to growing great stuff. I would love to know anyone’s advice and knowledge and techniques to growing the best quality product. I want to know how to go about the environment. I’m not totally sure how to go about the in-line fan time consumption. If I should run it on low at all times, if I should have it hooked up to the ink bird and turn on by temp and humidity control. Plan was to have humidifier and dehumidifier plugged into the ink bird. It’s a bunch of little things I don’t know how to go exactly about and exactly how to set everything up perfectly for the environment to adjust by itself and always keep a stable environment. I know what temperature and humidity ranges I’m aiming for during the different time periods of the plant just not sure how to go about it all.
General Rule; Veg Phase keep environment at about 80-85F for temperature, humidity 70-75%. Night (65%) Flowering Phase; 80-85F for temperature, and humditiy 70-75%, and slowly go down 2 degree each week. (applies for humidity as well). These are just GENERAL basic guideline advice, since I dont have enough information. I would love great airflow inside my grow. Fan should not be directly blowing at the plant but will be moving side to side; mimicking a "breeze" outside. Environment needs to be clean and sanitized. Temps/hum needs to be as accurate as possible. For lights start it at 500w, and slowly climb up to a max of 1000w by flowering phase. Top once or twice during veg, so that the canopy is even therefore giving equal amount of lighting to all bud sites later on. Make sure PPM/EC and PH is accurate. I like my ph at 6.0 throughout entire harvest (5.9-6.2 is ok). Gradually increase PPM/EC from veg to flowering. Kill and eliminate all pests before Week2 of flowering (if you have pest). The earilier you kill them the quicker your plnts will grow. Seems like you have majority of what is needed in your list. Cant think of anything else. EDIT: Oh, I would love to throw in some CO2 if this is my grow. Itll generate more yield. Since you already have a dehu, and have an AC coming, minus well include CO2 into your grow. GOOD LUCK , lmk if you have questions.
Welcome aboard. I was in the same boat you are about 4? years ago. I read a LOT of material and watched a LOT of videos before I actually started. But my first harvest was Primo. Top shelf all the way. No reason you shouldn't do the same. As far as the exhaust fan, mine runs 24/7. The goal is to swap all the air out of the tent at least once or twice a minute. That way they can get the CO2 they need without supplementing. You will have to get used to the fan noise. Fans and moving air make a certain amount of noise, no avoiding it. One item I didn't see on your list and most people forget at first are filters for your air intakes. Especially useful if you have pets for pet hair, but generally a good idea to keep anything else out. buds get sticky. Like $9 a pair on amazon, or make your own. I chopped up a furnace filter and used clamps. I also use a cheapo ph water test kit. The kind where you add drops to water to check PH. Seems more consistent that the test meters, and a lot cheaper also. Good Luck on your grow!
If youre already getting ac infinity gear get one of their cloudline extractors with a controller; best way to get a good grip on environment. You may need heating aswell, high intensity leds need around 81-84F. Spiderfarmer is not a premium lighting brand but a decent midrange option. Check around forums for aftersales service experiences... For growing with leds its vital to understand and try to follow vpd/vapour pressure deficit. This is the way to get a led plant to drink and transpire, dont miss out on it. Vpdchart.com is a good resource. Get a temp/rh meter with memory so you can see what happens during day and night to be able to dial things in. Most importantly: learn how to read your plants. And remember, the most common newbie mistakes are over watering, over lighting and over feeding: wait until the pot is light, as light as it was before the first watering, before you water again. Dont over light your plant, pale green growth and bleaching is a good indication, deficiencies in general aswell. Adding more nutes in this case will probably just mess you up, be careful and look for burnt tips as an indication for over feeding. If you get bleaching, back of the light and get the environment right; it usually solves things better than upping the nutes. Another pro advice would be to measure ec of the runoff when youre watering, this will give you a better idea of how much the plant is eating. Keep notes of all details. Those veg temps maybe a bit excessive; with 80ish temps its quite hard to maintain 75rh before the plant is transpiring properly. +81F is necessary for high light intensity but not really in low light veg. But each one to their own.
@Rocket Soul I agree, but just speaking in generality and I'm just assuming OP is growing in a tent. To achieve higher humidity acquire an Activ Air Humidifer, or Co2 can immediately bring up humidity as well (Pair that with a Humidity controller so that when desired humidity is achieved it will stop humidity increase.) However, its definitely achievable though, if you acquire stronger dehu/ac equipment. Good luck!
Yea I forgot to mention the filter I got one. Thanks for the advice brotha and that’s awesome you killed it first time around hopefully I do the same. I’m the same way I’ve been reading and watching stuff for a long time now before I attempted to do it
the first thing you need to grow top shelf bud is TOP SHELF genetics you can have a great enviroment but bad seeds next worry is the medium you plan to grow in THE temp and humidity are important but not really urgent first figure out a good soil recipe or go coco or hydro then try and germinate plant and train some seeds the rest will follow i have been at it 4 years had a few great grows with top shelf buds and a few bad ones but always a harvest Cherry pie was an easy one to grow nice dense buds or white widow good luck
My advice will be very different . No need to check your humidity in veg. Just let your fan suck the air from outside of the tent and suck fresh air in 24/7. You will be good to go . In late flower week 6 you should try to keep humidity under 55 % if possible . As long as your venting the tent and have fans blowing directly on the plants it can go up to 70 % odds of mold is slim . Most important thing always a fan blowing onto the plants 24 hours a day for all stages . Will keep all molds away. Temps seed popping subjective 60f to 77f prefered. Small baby plants 60f to 77 f for best root formation . Medium veg 60 to 77 again for best roots . Very large plants over 3 foot tall wont be your situation over 80f to 90 with co2 under high powered lights . Flower 60f to 80f Best about 70 to 75 all stages With co2 over 80f to 85 with high powered plants . top shelf advice . . I can throw two different seeds into the gutter treat them both like total garbage . One top shelf seeds the other garbage seeds Once they are done they finish the garbage seed will be garbage . The top shelf will be top shelf quality. You are working on building larger yields not higher quality weed . You cant change the genetics with better conditions . You can make the plant yield more top shelf . And if you have question ask the post Send pics . And you should ask many questions . How far your light should be from the just popped plant and other stages so on . Edited . Why spend so much money on a fan ? Do not buy ac infinity items . There the same as china units I know seen them in a hydro store 350 dollars works just the same as a 35 dollar ebay fan . An ac infinity does not make good carbon filters . I suggest making a new post asking the group. Ac infinity items are higher prices lower quality .
Hot air is better able to solve water than cold air. This means youre humidifier would have to run harder in a hot environment than a cold environment. The 80F temp floor for led is mainly for flower intensity; you need the plant to be a bit warmer when giving full intensity so the plant metabolism can keep up. Fir lower light intensity temps/rh is mainly important for running correct vpd to get the plant to transpire. Theres a few things in here which i dont think is good advice for a led grow. Rh in veg is important (together with correct temps) to reach correct vpd, or the plant wont drink and transpire. Id say rh is especially important in veg when growing leds. Do you mainly do hid or "hot lights"? Fan on the plant 24hrs? Recipe for wind burn. You do need air movement though, usually id rec for each leaf to be moving slightly but not trashing. You can defoliate aswell to avoid mold. For the larger space grow we use oscillating fans below over pots and stems and again over the cannopy but not right at the plant. Ac infinity is pricier but lets you control climate better, you can set it for temp or humidity control. Also the fan wont stop completely when it brings down temps and rh but run on idle, assuring some air renewal. But i agree 350 is a lot. I dont know enough about their filter to say anything.
Y Yes i have used the 2022 bar led and qb boards . Yes my info was for oscillating fans blowing into the plants . I have never seen wind burn. But i have seen power molds set in very quickly on the plants on the very back walls not getting enough air movement . Thanks for mentioning wind burn . Here is a excellent quick article to share . Look how strong the air is being forced into the plant on the video. For sure it will get wind burn. How to Identify Cannabis Wind Burn (Clawed Leaves) & Prevention If set up properly 24 fans wont burn your plants . And rocksoul i do agree with you to a point. issue im having when i say keep the cooler is root formation. Roots just dont like over 80f. They grow best in anything cooler . But how often do we actually measure the soil temp ? We measure the plant temp . So its very easy to get a 80 85 f top of the plant and the soil may be just 70 to 75.
Your over thinking.... learn VDP, manage with in the range. Most just use a vent fan because they hook it up to a carbon filter which is a waist of time. If temps are an issue then run a vent fan. However recirculating stale air is just that. Best growth happens with a window open and outside air coming in. Humidifier and dehumidifier is counter productive. Best grows I have had were from keeping things minimal. I too did the humidifer dehumidifier thing and it was a completely stupid thing. Top shelf bud comes from clean environments, proper feeding, and light schedules. The rest is everyone seeing how much money you will waist on a setup.
Nah you are not being unreasonable. Like the rest of us you want only the best & want it fast. lol As for your humidifier/de humidifier, what are your conditions? You may not need them. I opened a 6" floor vent & put a 4" fan in it & the humidity has dropped significantly (here in Fl), so see what U have first, it may not be that bad.
I understand the humidifier and dehumidifier are counter productive but what am I suppose to do for seedlings when the humidity is super low. It’s getting cold where I’m at and the humidity drops. I understand I don’t need a dehumidifier because I can just use the exhaust fan. Thanks for the info
Water them... It's a plant. Like they have survived hundreds of years before human involvement... Let me clue you in, everyone on here is just seeing what bullshit you will chase and what they can get you to spend your money on.... Stop being a sheep.
Dude why so aggro? lol is that how U kids say it? Sounds like someone did not wake & bake today? OP they are just seedlings for now & low tech, bring em inside with an el cheapo grow light bulb until they are sturdier.
You could water them and then cover with a clear plastic drink cup to maintain a good micro climate. Too wet: lift the cup a bit. Too dry: water more often and cover.
A little bit of mulch & a dome/cup should keep em warm enough unless you live in an igloo. Don't overwater esp as seedlings, imo. Test the soil humidity if u want to get fancy, I test with my finger.
Haha sounds like a guy that gets pissed off at newbies for not following their ways. To each their own. This isn’t all for personal use so I want to impress. Just looking to learn. Does it sound crazy doing it in a tent in my garage in New York? If that’s not manageable, I can do it inside just not much room. I’m only doing 2 plants in a 4x4 so I’d think I’d have room to put in a mini heater even though im aware you don’t want to put any of that stuff inside the tent.
