MRSA and cannabis!

Discussion in 'Medical Marijuana Usage and Applications' started by Storm Crow, May 19, 2010.

  1. Alright kids, the press has given us a great big opening! There have been several news articles in the last couple of days about MRSA. If you run a news search I'm sure you can find several . Here's a few

Now, I happen to have articles and studies that show even crude extracts of cannabis can KILL MRSA! And one dates clear back to 1955! This is a big break for us- a great chance to educate people about what cannabis can do- if we take advantage of it!

Here's what I have on my home list on MRSA (Only you guys, and one other site, gets to see this! Everyone else waits til July)

How about getting on line and making a few comments about cannabis and MRSA? Here's what I wrote for one-

"Odd thing is- I have a medical study, "Hemp (Cannabis sativa)-an antibiotic drug. II. Methods and results of bacteriological investigations and preliminary clinical experiences " by Dr. Z. Krejci dated 1958 that shows that a simple extract of cannabis can kill 100% of Staph aureus germs on surfaces. Then for reporting on more recent studies, WebMD had a 2008 article called "Chemicals in Marijuana May Fight MRSA" and in 2009, news-medical.net had "Natural plant cannabinoids reduce multi-drug resistant infections".

You could just run a search for "Granny Storm Crow's MMJ Reference list" and find them (and others) in the "MRSA" section.

In fact, I just found another cannabis study, (1955) also by Z. Krejci where he states "Note-worthy is the effect upon Staphylococcus aureus strains, which are resistant to penicillin and to other antibiotics."

So are we going to spend millions to find new antibiotics that may, or may not, kill the MRSA germs, or should we just grow some cannabis, extract it with alcohol and kill them for pennies?"

Just me posting up letters is good, I'll reach a few people. But if someone sees two or three letters from different people, all claiming cannabis can stop MRSA, then maybe the idea that there might be more to cannabis than just getting high begins to creep into their heads! So get online and write a couple of comments about MRSA and cannabis! [IMG] Those articles and studies should give you all the "ammo" you need! Just be polite, OK?

California and Washington have "legalization" coming up soon. Over a dozen other states have MMJ on the ballot this fall. [IMG]

What we do now, can influence the vote in November! :hello:

    You want legal cannabis? EDUCATE!

  2. I have been on this bandwagon for a long time, it's great to have the word get out. Thanks again, Storm Crow.

Another reason the FDA should be shut down, for suppressing medicinal cannabis and allowing so many to be needlessly infected.

Colloidal silver, as a surfactant or internally is also a great MRSA killer. Also not approved by the FDA.

Colloidal silver and cannabis tincture can sterilize most harmful bacteria. Wonder why the FDA doesn't know that? Or do they?

MRSA is largely a late mutation, as are VRE's (vancomycin resistant enterococcus), so the studies from the 50's may not be as accurate, but I am sure that the results are well known to the people who looked for them.

The FDA is responsible for MRSA, in fact, and should be held accountable.

Staph aureus was already becoming resistant to penicillin and erythromycin in 1955. We just hadn't had made methicillin yet for it to become resistant to! MRSA is just good old Staph aureus that has learned a new trick- methicillin resistance. Here's what Z. Krejci, author of the 1955 study, had to say about resistant Staph and cannabis- (emphasis mine)

"Note-worthy is the effect upon Staphylococcus aureus strains, which are resistant to penicillin and to other antibiotics (fig. 10). That was one of the peculiar properties of cannabis which was found to be most attractive. We saw the possibility of utilizing the antibiotic locally without any danger of producing resistant strains to other antibiotics administered at the same time throughout treatment. We must also remember the very good effect of substances from cannabis upon Staphylococcus aureus, particularly nowadays, when a high percentage of staphylococcus diseases offers resistance to penicillin. It is interesting that staphylococci manifesting various degrees of resistance to one or more antibiotics (erythromycin included) are sensitive to the antibiotics from cannabis in the same degree throughout. So far, we have not observed that any resistance of the staphylococcus strains to these substances would arise.

Cannabis killed the resistant-types and non-resistant types of staph aureus equally well! This means that they STILL have NO RESISTANCE TO CANNABIS - we sure haven't been using cannabis extracts as a germ killer, have we? It also kills in a totally different way that antibiotics do. Krejci saw the potential of attacking MRSA with cannabis and another type of antibiotic to give a 1-2 punch! It's just a dang shame that SO MUCH research (and not just on cannabis) is ignored, banned or supressed!

And the newer studies say that CBD works quite well on its own to kill the Staph germs. CBD will not get you high, and will be more acceptable as medicine to many people because of this.

Actually, this guy, Z. Krejci, writes pretty well for a scientist- the study has been translated, so the wording is a bit "off" in spots, but still understandable. He likes to include photos and graphs, so it's not going to be 25 pages of nothing but words! You might want to click the link and read it. Krejci did some very unique medical studies with cannabis and its seeds- he really should be one of our MMJ heroes! :hello:
