  1. what up gc?

Ive been working on a lil something, and i though it was time to show you all whats good lately. Its day 59 from sprout, 37 days in flower, and things are looking pretty good so far. Ill try to keep you guys in the loop for the rest of it.

4 girls here, 2 in plastic rectangular pots, and 2 are stuck in solo's. I started with 7 bagseeds to see who would be the strongest... narrowed it to 2 that got the transplant to big pots, but kept the 5 others till flower just in case. Well, they were all female and I am keeping what i have room for in this small space (30"height - 18" width/depth - 29" length)... i had to trash 2 plants :(

one plant has a serious case of eagle-claw leaf, which i am pretty sure is a result of over-fert or a salt buildup. i just flushed 2 days ago w/ about 3 gallons for each pot, so well see how that works. i may have to give it more flushings just to be safe. thoughts?

photos include overall setup, a closer one w/ the yellow hue balanced out, and the best colas on the 2 big plants.

questions? comments? advice? lets hear what you think gc

  2. looks great man im 16 days into flower myself and its cool to see where im gonna be in a few weeks

keep it up man whats the temps in there?

  3. Lovely LST job! Did you just anchor them right into the soil? Have you thought about popping small holes in the rim of the pot and tying branches off to the sides? You can actually grow the plant outside the dimensions of the pot, and get much bigger growth.

What kinda light schedule are you running on?

  4. thanks for checking it out, glad you like, is it your first time? similar set up? comparing similar grows is always wicked helpful. temps are running around 78-84 daytime (w/ circ fan running), 68-74 night time. if it is all sealed up, i can only really run solely the hps and stay around 85... it can get pretty hot. ventilation is tricky, i have some powerful cpu fans but i guess it isnt the best yet.

thanks!! idk if you saw it (its in first pic if you zoom in), but my front plant has a split in the stem from LSTing a bit too hard . covered it with a bandage of toilet paper and bound together with twine, seems to be a non-issue.

they are actually pinned to the soil using zip ties; just one tie going thru itself, pointy end in soil, loop on top of soil, twine thru the loop. basically it lets me specifically place branches exactly where i want them. these are 2 different bag strains, growing entirely differently. The front one obviously went thru heavy stretching, and its all over the place, so its definitely a challenge to get max space utilization. you think pinning plants to sides would work in this space? it seems if the pot gets overgrown, the plant will run into the walls.

oh and light cycle is 12/12 for flower

  5. Ah, sorry... I meant to say during veg... what kind of light schedule did you use?

oh i gotcha. so for the first week i had 24/0, then 2nd and 3rd week were 18/6. switched to 12/12 on day 23, and to date they are 38 days in flower.

just gave the two smaller plants their nute feeding of 2tsp tiger bloom and 1 tbsp of big bloom, and for the first time, 1 and a half teaspoons of blackstrap molasses. looking forward to how they like that after the flushing.

havent had a chance to take pics yet, soon to come.

  7. looks good man. what soil are you using?

i dont know much about feeding plants in solo cups, but i can say that with the plants in the bigger containers you should be able to do closer to 2 tbsp big bloom and 1 tbsp molasses per gallon of water. but this also depends on the soil youre using and the strain. maybe try slowing uping the the amounts and watch the plants for any adverse reactions. tiger bloom is good at 2 tsp though. keep it up :smoke:

hey finkekine, thanks for stopping by, glad to hear you like what you see. My soil mix is just a 60/30/10 of organic soil mix//perlite//worm castings... The soil mix was bought from some random random corner store... i couldn't find FFOF. definitely gonna hunt for that harder for next time. unfortunately dont know what strains they are..

yeah so let me get a bit more detailed about the feeding. I have been pretty much using the FF concentrate trio and chart on all of my plants for nute mix. I was kind of foolish tho and neglected to remember that you feed nutes with every other watering... so thats prolly why at least the back one got burned a bit.

    soo:
for the two big ones - FF chart feedings every watering
two small ones - FF feedings every other watering (they usually get watered more often, soil dries quickly)

going forward, everything was flushed (btw is using tap water okay???), and i am going to start with a fresh regiment of nutrients. just picked up the molasses, so the small ones got:

the first "half" dosage of .5 tbsp, or 1.5 tsp or molasses, and
    FF nutes following the chart

so, i wonder, what do you think i should do for the big ones now? Same dosage? I also think i might flush the back one once more with a gallon of RO instead of tap, then maybe finish that same watering with some nutrient water. what ya think?

  9. Mr. Bill, saaayyyyweeeet grow my friend! You have any idea what strains they might be? I know you said bagseed but it sure looks good. I just finished up a grow, check out my thread below. Can't wait to see the final outcome.

tap water is okay. i use it for most of my grow, but i use distilled for the seedling stage and for the final 3-4 waterings.

you are pH testing your water though, correct? tap water where i come from is usually pH 8 strait out of the tap. so i let it sit out in a gallon water jug with the top off for at least 24hrs. this lets the chlorine evaporate. then pH adjust to about 6.5ish and its good to go. sometimes the nutes alone will pH adjust the water because all the FF nutes are a bit acidic. specially tiger bloom.

so when you talk about flushing with tap water, do you mean pH adjusted tap water? cause if you just used tap water you may have messed up your soil pH even more.

you dont seem to have a big pH problem from the looks of the greeness of your plants, but just to be safe what i would do is pH test the runoff of your containers. just take some tap water and pH adjust to 6.5. then water enough to get some runoff. then pH test the runoff to see what the pH of your soil is. if the pH is really high, like 7.5, then you want to flush with 6.0 water to balance it back to 6.5ish. conversely, if the pH is really low, like 5.5, then you want to flush with 7.0 water. get what im saying?

for cheap ph up/down, use white (clear) distilled vinegar for pH down and baking soda for pH up. or any hydro or gardening store will have pH up and down for about $10 each. and if you dont have or dont what to drop the dough on a pH pen, then these work just dandy if youre not color blind. but i bet you already know all of this :smoke:

  11. hey thanks a bunch stepdude, i checked out your plants and WOW were they some trees, mad props, i think thats awesome you tried to push the limits and bring out that color. its too bad it bombed the BW... is the smoke noticeably worse too?

when they were seedlings, they were accidentally left on just a windowsill and didnt have direct light. the front plant had stretched quite a bit, but the back plant managed to stay stocky, even thru to this day. so i think the back one is an indica, and the front one may be a bit more of a sativa. once the buds mature a bit more maybe ill be able to narrow it down to a couple guesses.

i got these seeds from a friend who went thru a lot of high quality strains (often from cali) and he collected the rare bean or two he encountered every once in a while.

also the back plant had strong purple coloring under its leaves during the first 2 weeks of life, but then went away... dunno if thats significant, it doesnt seem to be reappearing.

yep yep yep, ive been using a digital dipstick ph meter, every drop of water is set to 6.4, for nutes and flush, runoff was most recently 6.8. for up and down i got the general hydroponics acid/base solutions, they work wonders.

i should probably start letting water stand, or maybe filter it though i suppose.. that chlorine can't be any good.

i also have FF cha ching on its way, which once i get i will probably begin feeding with as well.. since by then they will be 5 weeks in flower.

  12. Day 64 (42 Flower)

    greetings gc :smoke:

its been about a week since the last pics, so here comes an update. buds have just been steadily swelling, lookin real nice. they got a good gallon of distilled water to get any of the last nutes locked up in the soil out, and then I topped off with another fresh with 1/4 strength nutrients. i just want to be sure that nute burn is gone so we can get ready for the cha ching, which is soon to come this next week :hello:.

    check em out:
bud porn, some of that LST work, and the resulting split in main stem of the front plant.

  13. Day 76 (54 Flower)

Been a while since the last update.. but these things have gotten huge!!!

The soil seems to be getting a higher pH as time progresses. This watering, I started w/ water ph'd to 5.5, and I got a runoff of 6.7. So I want to say the soil is possibly 7-8, which is no good.

Does anyone know a good way to lower the soil's pH at this stage of the game, with 7-8 weeks into flower? I still feel like these girls have a good 2-3 weeks to go..

  14. im starting to see a lot more of the purple leaf tips (on the 7th pic), all over the plant, especially on the newer leaves. its making me think this could be a purple strain... i hope the calyxes start to purple up on this bitch :devious:

my best guess could be a purple trainwreck?? its so hard to make a call at this point

few more pics of the purple colors im seeing. its appearing on the fan leaves of one plant, and the tips of the sugary leaves on the other. what do you guys think is going on?

also, a little sample bud from one of the solo cups. :D

  16. Day 92 (70 Flower)

heres the gang minus one, lookin yummy as fuck :yummy:

one solo cup is getting its 24 hrs of darkness, and im gonna chop and test that one later. the rest of these ladies im thinking can go another 1-2 weeks. there aren't a whole lot of amber trichs really, maybe 90/10 or 80/20 [cloudy/amber], even tho its 10 weeks into flower.
