Moving with a glass piece?

Discussion in 'Marijuana Consumption Q&A' started by ClownPrincess, Nov 15, 2012.

  1. Hi guys, I'm new to everything here and I was wondering, does anyone have experience with moving to a new apartment and safely taking your glass pieces in either a truck, or a moving truck? I'm just curious as the safest way to transport it. I was going to take the bowl out, wrap it with paper, but I don't know if I should store the piece vertically in a box with like, packing peanuts, or if I should get some of that foam that's in couches and cut it to the shape of my bong so I can lay it on the side and put it in a box? I don't want people to see it when I move in, and I have to transport two dogs and a cage of gerbils, with some guinea pigs because they have to come, too...
Basically I can't just hold it in my lap as my boyfriend drives because I'll probably have a gerbil cage on my lap, or a guinea pig cage, depending on how we move. I'd like it to be in the first load, though, so I can stash it before we finish moving in. Maybe I'm just being paranoid, lol, but I don't want it to get in the way or be broken because of my dogs.

So, does anyone have any ideas on how do this? It's gonna be in a box with either foam or packing peanuts, or maybe a few sweaters or something. And it's going to be spotless when I move it, too, just to be on the safe side.

  2. bubble wrap helps. thats what I did. put my two foot ROOR in a box with two pillows and a bunch of bubble wrap. never hadda problem.

  3. Towels. Anything soft to cushion.

  4. when I move I just use clothing or towels and bubble wrap and put it in a box so it can not tip over or move around. Just make sure the box is not going to tip over or be crushed and it will be fine. I have done this a bunch of times with no problem.

  5. When I move I just put my bong in its case and put it in a hidden compartment I have in my car. Safe and secure

  6. If you worried about your glass breaking in the process, move them by hand over seen by you in your private vehicle.

  7. Thanks, everyone! I wish I had a case for it, I was thinking of making a suit-case like case for it, with foam, just so I can store it when I'm not using it, and I can bring it to people's houses or something, but for now I think a box full of my clothes or towels would be fine :D I was just being overly paranoid, I suppose.
The glass is pretty thick, but I still wanna make sure it survives in one piece. And it should be in my private vehicle, since we're not hiring a moving company, though we might rent a uhaul so we don't have to make a billion trips.

  8. Maybe you could make a carrying case out of a briefcase or something? Maybe find a big block of styrofoam, fit it to the briefcase, and then cut a whole in the styrofoam to fit your bong.
