Moving to Colorado?

Discussion in 'General' started by Uglyboyceo, Apr 17, 2016.

  1. I was born in Florida and moved to Virginia when I was 2 and have spent 20 years here. Long story short I have gone through so much here and have gotten so used to seeing the same town and places and the same faces and doing the same things so I need a fresh start and plan on relocating to Colorado in a few months time. I have visited Denver before but our hotel was on a stretch of highway so we only really saw the big city or small residential neighborhoods. I have a relative living in broomfield that I will be staying with at first but wondering if any of you guys can recommend a particular city in Colorado that is a nice place to live ( Low crime, not too hot of weather and stable job markets are preferred) Thanks anything will help with my research

  2. Don't move here...We're becoming more like California without the Coast.

    Expensive.:coolalt:

  3. I don't really have a choice besides staying here which isn't a good choice for my emotional/mental/physical health and I have actually found houses for cheaper than what we pay for an apartment here but they are in Pueblo which ranked the worst for crime etc so I'll have to keep looking

  4. garentee rent is at least a grand. Not including food. 800$ for a crack apartment at best. CO is pricy.

  5. So the sites listing must be wrong? I mean more of my family will be moving a few months after I do so 1000 isn't horrible but I will just have to keep my eye out

  6. We're moving to Pueblo or Canon Cuty this summer. House hunting now. Going back on the 29th to sign up.

  7. Most areas of Colorado are pricey as mentioned.

What city works best for you will depend on your personal choices and goals. There is a huge difference ( night and day) from living in a city like Denver or Boulder and living some place like Trinidad or Buena Vista. We have a huge and diverse state.

Generally speaking on the front range prices go down from North to South as you follow I-25. Denver, Fort Collins, and Boulder are all high comparatively. Some areas 1k a month will barely get you a good one bedroom. As you go south to the springs prices drop a little, and even further Pueblo is on average a bit cheaper. The best prices are found in the smaller towns in Eastern and Southern Co. However there is a very direct correlation between cost of housing and the job market. Fremont county for example, which is where Cañon City is located, is one of the cheapest areas on the front range but also has the third highest unemployment in the state as well as one of the highest per capita rates of citizens on government assistance.

More rural areas and the mountain towns in particular are not for everyone. There are areas where you better be extremely self sufficient. Shopping options are often lacking. I'm not even in a rural area and have to drive an hour if I want to go to any large box store other than Walmart or Home Depot. Medical services though adequate are also comparatively limited.

So what type or work to you plan to do? Do you need a lot of conveniences? How important is a nightlife? Want to be near the mountains or just in an urban area?

  8. Congrats, I hope you enjoy it here. I moved to Fremont County just outside of Cañon about two years ago and have been extremely happy. The people in Cañon are awesome. It is one of the most supportive communities I have had the pleasure of living in personally.

  9. Well currently I am actually getting ss but overtime I plan on integrating back into society and working I have only really worked at restaurants or grocery stores but I would be living with my parents and my dad would also be looking for a job cooking. I don't need many conviences out of the norm really. I am happy with hot showers and a hot meal with Internet and to stuff like that. And It would be preferable to have a somewhat close dispensary since I will have to walk/take the bus.Well I am not great at meeting people anyway but I would probably wanna go to the bar every so often. I want to move where there is a decent amount of people but not necessarily a city but not an extremely rural area either if that makes sense. I know I sound picky but that's not the case lol as far as money wise pueblo looks the best but have you ever heard anything bad about the crime there since it ranks the highest?

  10. Oh awesome yeah I was looking at pueblo it's the best price wise but I have heard they have high crime rates but what kinda places are you finding there? I am visiting my sister in broomfield in July so while I am down there I am gonna look for places and get used to Colorado/the area before my parents come in December

  11. Golden is a fine town.

  12. I
The crime is everywhere. I generally don't associate with bugger pickers so we should be good. Trying to find a 3/2 for sale has been challenging.
We'll be slumming for awhile but I'll be able to legally grow and consume.
I have an APBT for house security.

  13. Yes
if you have a parental credit card.

  14. Yeah but I have read that pueblo is the worst for it and what is a bugger picker? Yeah we are renting and I probably won't grow because we only have a small dog and I hate to say it your poor pup won't stand a chance against a gun so please be careful!!

  15. I have my own arsenal. And I'm not scared. Booger picker is someone who picks their nose. I don't. At least in public.

  16. Okay good and oh okay where did that come from lol

  17. When you made a Dog vs Gun comment.

  18. But you said you don't associate with booger pickers before you said you had a dog and I made that comment? I was asking where the booger picker comment came from lol

  19. My 8th grade football coach. Hex said, "if you run around with the booger eaters, you'll become one too."
I don't plan on running with a rough crowd. Meet my neighbors as they watch me unload the u-haul.

  20. You can do it man. Some two years ago I was talking with some blades about packing up my shit and moving from DC to Humboldt County to follow my cannabis dreams. Guess what I fucking did it. I just got a promotion yesterday and will be getting my first home in my life with no roommates or anything and I am 25 years old. People in life will tell you that you can't do it and you are foolish. Well fuck them and now some of my older friends in DC wish they could go back 20 years and follow their dreams. They make 6 figures and hate their life's. I have learned from 3 professional growers so far. Also grow fucking monsters outdoor.

    Sade's outdoor Bigfoot territory grow
