Plants are almost 3 weeks old they all have about 5 or 6 leaves total on each plant. I just watered them today, but it is supposed to rain for the next 3 days. Will it be okay to move them indoors under a regular florescent light for a couple of days? And should I leave the light on them constantly? Or the same amount as when they're outside?
Heck, just leave them outside and put them somewhere so they don't get flushed by the rain until it's over. They're going to have to get hardened up at some point anyway. Just stick them next to a building under the overhang or anywhere that will keep some of the rain off them, but rain certainly isn't going to hurt them. With no picture to go by, I have no idea what size container they're in or anything like that, but I'm not sure why you're so worried about it. Once the seeds germinate and you get them into soil, the first thing they do is build a root system. Until the plant is finished doing that, the foliage will just pretty much sit there and wait. It's only after the root system is finished that you see the plant start to increase it's water usage and the foliage start to pick up and grow more vigorously. The smaller the container you start them out in, the quicker the rooting in will take place and the quicker your plant will grow (at least the part you see). Putting a tiny seedling in a huge container full of dirt just means that it's going to take a LONG time for it to get rooted in and going. But if your plants are 3 weeks old, unless they're in a 5 gallon bucket or something like that, they should have already developed their root system and should be moving on toward growing and getting stronger. Really, the only thing you've got to worry about with outdoor plants if they're good and healthy, is freezing temps and frost. You would most definitely need to bring them in for that, but if you're going to grow them outside, get them used to outside. They're weeds. They're tough. TWW
Firstly, everything TWW says is true and good advice. But to more specifically answer your questions: Yes you can put them under fluorescent for a couple days with no worries. Yes you can leave the light on constantly. Both are regular common practices for many growers. Cheers. My Journal
Not sure how to upload a photo, been trying since I read your message, they are in 1 gallon planting pots
Thanks for the advice fellas. I'll try to get some pictures up when I figure it out. Sure hope mother earth is watching over McCurtain county this year
