i am going to be moving cross country in the summer time and wanna transport one of my plants. how long can a plant go without light? besides the obvious BAD things that can go wrong set aside. how would one go about transporting a plant? say from NJ->CA?
If it is during vegative growth you should be good for a while just put it back under 24hr light. I assume your not trying to transport a flowering plant across country?I would put it in a box or some shit or just toss it in the back of the uhaul like a house plant. Not sure that I will ever do this though so maybe take some other suggestions.
yea i would make sure its in veg growth. thanks for the response. you think 2 days without light would kill it?
i know people that give their plant 36 hrs of darkness before they start flowering their plant. + enless your plant is completely dead within 48 hours, it can be saved. shouldnt be a problem except cops etc.
It won't be a problem. 24 hrs of veg light will be better for it though insted of 18/6 when you get back just to be safe. probably switch it back if thats what you use after a week or so.
I disagree, I think you will be stressing the hell out of it. First off, only two days to drive from New Jersey to California? In a truck? It will be longer. Second, you aren't just depriving the plant of light, you are shaking it constantly the whole time you are driving. Third, you said in the summer, and the inside of a U-Haul gets really, really hot in the summer. Fourth, there is no fresh air in that dark, hot, shaking truck. Fifth, as someone else said, you are taking 3,000 miles worth of risk with god knows how many jurisdictions of LEO. I think your best plan is to time your grow to harvest before you move and then start a new grow once you arrive.
the unforunate truth is that toasty u might be right. i really dont wanna kill my baby tho. lol. i guess when the time comes i will find her a good home. if i end up not taking her of course.
