Greetings Blades, I've been growing off and on for a few years now, and I think I'm ready to move away from Lucas Formula and GH nutes in general. I run hempy buckets under a 400w lamp with a SCROG, and it seems to me that Lucas generally doesn't do a good job of keeping my plants fed with enough Mg in early flowering. I've tried various additives to correct it, but it just seems like it's more trouble than it's worth, and I'd rather move to something else. What's popular these days? I was considering getting some AN, as I've heard you don't really need to worry about pH so much with them. I'm not a fan of the price or the marketing though. Also considering Humboldt. What do you guys think? Anyone here runnin hempys under a scrog find a good nute mix?

Hmmm organic... well, I'm running hempy buckets, and will probably continue running hempys next season (I take a break during summer because I get busy at work and it costs to much to run it) so I'm not sure if an organic soil mix will work in my situation. House or botanicare... I'll start researching those right now!
@[member="indic4"] ...when you mentioned house, did you mean http://www.house-garden.us/ these guys? I'd love to hear from anyone that runs Lucas formula, or used to run it!
I've had good results with botanicare stuff. pureblend pro (soil/bloom), calmag+, liquid karma...and I think a little silica stuff. I can't remember the exact ratios I used but I remember I used the cannastats nute calculator to figure a formula that had very similar nutrient #'s to the lucas formula (100/100/200/60) are you using straight lucas 8/16 ? Have you looked into the modified h3ad version of lucas (6/9) ? I use this in coco and have amazing results(at stronger or weaker%'s) I also add calmag. Sorry I don't know much about hempy stuffs and how/if nutes interact differently with your medium or w/e
Thanks for the reply been absent for the week Well my last grow I was using the standard GH formula using all 3 bottles. Prior to that I ran exclusively hempy, with the occasional Fox Farms soluble during flowering. Definitely not happy with standard GH formula - even Lucas did better than that. Lucas actually was never THAT bad, but I always felt like there were MG problems a couple weeks into flower that would take me forever to correct. I haven't looked into the hard water version of Lucas though, although I'm not sure it's necessary because I use an RO filter to clean my tap water before I use it for feeding I just googled the cannastats calculator and botanicare... I'm saving all the links for later! I take a break growing during the summer because my house gets too hot and I don't need an already insanely high electricity bill to be even higher trying too cool off my plants!! So you use a soil medium, correct? Do you do any kind of training like LST or topping or SCROG?
I grow in straight coco, drain to waste. If you're using ro water you might want to look into adding some cal/mag supplements and some other trace stuff. On smaller plants I just trim off the bottom branches a bit. On larger pants I'll mostly top and prune them...if they get big enough I'll might do some lst with some string...but mostly I just try to prune them so I don't have too many strings/tie downs getting in the way. I've done some scrog in the past also, but mostly I would only use that technique if you plan on growing a plant with a huge surface area and thin canopy...like a single plant under a big light that needs to fill out alot of area.
