Moving a plant inside?

So a friend gave a friend a friend's plant, the friend was growing said plant outside, friend now in possession of said plant wishes to move plant inside. Would moving an outdoor plant inside to cfl light stress the plant or would it be ok?

And would keeping it outside during the day and under cfl at night help it grow from a 24 hr light cycle or stress the plant from light changes?
