Move to Larger Buckets

  1. OK I started 2 seeds and put them in 2" rockwell cubes and them into 2" netpots... Let them grow and moved the cubes into 4" netpots with Hydroton Expanded Clay Aggregate Pebbles Rocks surrounding the cubes and place the pots into 1 gallon buckets... The plants are growing nicely.. I'm using the DWC system so inside each bucket is a 2" x 2" round airstone attached to an air pump... Up until now the pump has been running 24/7.. The problem is that when I get home the bucket is almost out of water.. So the way I see it is I have 2 options... 1 is to run the pump for 15 min every hours.. Since the roots are sooo long and sit in the water anyway they should be getting water and nutrients 24/7 and would not be jetting Oxygen and water to the root ball 15 mins per hour.. Will this work??? The other option would be put in a bigger bucket.. so lets say I get a 3.5 gal bucket would I need to get bigger netpots?? If I did that I don't see how I could get the roots out of the smaller net pot without a lot of damage or do u just put in the smaller netpot into the bigger net pot or just put the small netpot into a larger bucket???

If I use the bigger bucket do I still need to run the airpump 24/7??
