Hey Everyone! New member, just joined tonight. Mountain biking is my favorite hobby! Got into it last summer and I am hooked! Hoping to get myself a Fuel EX 8 before the snow hits.
Was it another bikers dog? that sucks! We have a guy who is part of our crew who has a trail dog. Great dog. never had an issue with him, but hes been trained to follow along since he was a puppy.
Shared use trail I assume. It drives me nuts when people hike at the bike parks around me. especially because there are only 3 places I can ride in my area and more parks than I can count where people can hike.
I'm also going for a ride in a little while, hopefully no dog encounters. Animal Control told me I can shoot, if I feel threaten, if a dog is running at me. Told her my gun will pull my pants off, she said try to strap it onto the bike. I'm thinking pepper spray of some kinda, clip it to my shoulder strap on my pack.
My local bike shop sells a "dog repellant" that clips onto your frame. Luckily Ive never had an issue with aggressive dogs on our trails. I usually hop off my bike and play with any dogs that cross my path. I can't help it. I like dogs more than people. I do bring the dog repellant with me when I ride in the ADKs incase of bears or moose. idk if it would help me or not but it makes me feel better.
I've been off my bike for a few weeks now. It's been miserably wet here, and the trails near my house are flooded. My road bike is making some grinding noise from the bottom bracket when I stand on the pedals, so I haven't been riding that. I did just get a new vape, so I will have to find some where to go ride soon.
Im renting a Scott Spark 720 tonight to try out tomorrow. Anyone on one of those?? Cant wait to try a full suspension plus size. Im itching to ride!
Went on an pretty awesome ride yesterday, new trail, same area I usually ride, near me. 12.5 miles, lots of beach sand, chunky as hell, tons of climbing out. Stats 1000 ft. descent, 400 ft. ascent. According to MTB Project, seems like alot more on that ascent.
