Hello. I set up a mother tent to keep my mother plants for cuttings. Here is the new tent on the right next to the flowering tent: My questions would be, is my T5 fixture enough for the tent or should I put in my spare 700w Mars 2 Hydro? And what is the smallest size pot you could place a mother plant which you would plant on keeping for a long time? I want to jam pack this mother tent so I have enough cuttings at a time for a sea of green: What is the best cloning solution to place in an aeroponic cloner to clone faster? Let me know guys. Any help is truly appreciated. And yes, I have started quite a few topics lately, I have a couple projects running simultaneously. Happy growing! Cheers! Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
As a new grower, take this as a grain of salt, but... I would put the mothers in 7gallon pots. More root system seems like it would be less stressed by cutting. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Grasscity Forum mobile app
I keep my mothers small, 1.75 gallon pots. Then she stays a mother for 13months, then at the beginning of the 12 month I take a clone of her and turn that clone into that strains new mother, then at the beginning of the 13 month I take the old mother and clone her completely out. Then after that, my new mother will be ready to give me clones. I don't like keeping mothers longer than that because you will then need to get into root maintenance, having to cut away at the root ball which causes incredible stress, which can turn a very reliable 7th generation cloned female mother sharing her very reliable female clones into a 7th generation cloned female mother whose clones will now all turn into hermies. Been there, done that, and never again...
Thanks for info. I hadn't thought of that. Ithink I will run a similar settup. Although I have the space for larger ones. Question: would having to not cut away roots, and the roots thinking they can still grow(in a larger pot) effect what the clones potential roots are thinking when you take them?. I'm a freak Sent from my Nexus 5 using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Although it did hurt my head for a bit. This sounds a bit more of what I had planned. The only problem is that I heard that clones are more susceptible to fungi? So what would be the best way, very large pot and keep the mother indefinitely or keep them in small pots and replace plants with clones? Cheers Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
BTW. How many mothers could I realistically keep in a 32 inch x 32 inch tent under 4 bulb T5 fixture (or Mars 2 Hydro 700w, haven't decided yet)? Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
I've took 36 clones off my LSD, Colombian Gold, Ak-47 XTRM, and Monster Mass with the cuttings being different sizes and different Genetics. I'm happy to say that on my clone king, after 4 days using Clonex gel, nutrient solution, and mister that even the worst clones got tremendous roots. So I assume it wouldn't really be a problem. Question: how long would you say it would take to get roots and transplant with: 1.5" rock wool Cubes in a dome under a single T5 using rooting gel, and soaking the Cubes in clonex 5ml/L 6hours before. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Grasscity Forum mobile app
I did it with Rockwood the first time with 15 clones (Colombian Gold), yet only 7 rooted after 10 days. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
How many of those rooted after 14days? How did you do it? Sent from my Nexus 5 using Grasscity Forum mobile app
I soaked the Rockwool Cubes in water for about 6h, and then lowered the ph (I don't know of it happens for everybody, but the Rockwool cubes have a High Alkalinity) I then soaked them in a Clonex solution (5ml/l) along with Canna Rhyzotonic (5ml/l) ph'd at 6.5-6.8. I take cuttings with at least 3 nodes on them, make a 45 degree angle cut, dip them in the Clonex rooting gel and firmly place them into the cubes. After 14 days, I probably got about 10 clones with at least primary roots. The Cloner is way more effective and got the same results 7 days earlier. Also, I like to use Clonex rooting hormone mist every second spraying to give the clones an extra kick. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
Damn bro I'm going to copy and paste that for my next cut. thank you. Did you water them at all during those 7-10-14 days they were in there. I've read your not supposed to over water and I haven't watered in 5 days since I took them. Thoughts?. Oh and clone time is no matter, I have a perpetual idea in mind. Just make sure there's enough humidity. You want to spray them with plain water so they have to grow roots to reach the nutrient solution at the bottom of the tray. Only fill up the tray to about where you fill up the indents. Cheers Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
Wow I didn't even know I was supposed to fill the tray. So obviously don't fill it so the water is touching the Cubes! Thanks man. Your the only one that's helped in this whole community. Your thoughts on my grow journal so far I would likely get laminated Sent from my Nexus 5 using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Day 2 on the soil for these clones. 6 LSD, 8 Monster Mass, and 2 Pineapple Haze. Still a few to come. I'm gonna keep one of each in the mother tent to preserve Genetics. Here are the moms I started from seed (white Widow, Blue Dream and Cinderella-99 still germinating) Let me know what you guys think. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
Looking awesome man, kinda jealous. Btw I got roots in 4/5 clones I took on day 9 Sent from my Nexus 5 using Grasscity Forum mobile app
