Personally I feel these bands/singer songwriters are pretty overated ( in order for most to least U2 bruce springsteen boston aerosmith any others? (I named rock bands but feel free to respond with groups/bands from any genre
I'm just not a fan. Every song sounds almost identical. Glory days and spirit in the night are great songs but everything else ehh.
Bruce is not overrated. He may have fallen off in his later days, but check out Born To Run or Darkness on the Edge of Town. Both undeniably god tier rock albums. I agree with all the others though, especially U2. Also Guns N Roses are really awful, overrated doesn't begin to describe.
He's kind of a sell out with the synths in his songs. Kiss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Motley Crue Nirvana (a lot of good songs but what sound exactly did they invent) edit: I'll defend Guns n Roses Appetite For Destruction is pretty solid
ELVIS!!!! I know he's a singer and not a band, but all he did was steal what black artists were doing and sell it to a white audience. And he was a hypocritical drug addict who collected NARC badges.
I don't know man. I think gnr, motley crue, bruce springsteen, and kiss are bands that helped create the music we have today. I personally don't like kiss but many off my favorite artists grew up to them and evolved because of them. I like to hear why people don't like bands that I like personally, and get an different perspective. Nirvana's tones are definitely rip offs from other bands but that is what music is really. Some hear a tone and immediately fall in love because it expresses for them, then you have others that evolve off it. Mud Honey is a good band. I think over rated bands for me are creed, nickelback, linkin park, green day, blink 182, disturbed, and many other mainstream bands. I love music and have a heart for the widest variety of genre, but some bands are more entertainment than artistic. There is a difference of a true musician and an entertainer.
The most overrated band to me is Metallica. I think the first four albums are awesome and the fifth is pretty good, but from there it was all mediocre at best (St. Anger licked balls) yet they're somehow fuckin' huge. lol
I do believe that no music is overrated as long as it speaks to someone. Personally, I can't stand Springsteen. I don't know why. Not one song of his is worth my time. No reason other than I just don't like it. But in saying that, millions of people do love his music, and if it speaks to millions of others than I wouldn't classify it overrated. Just not my cup of tea. But I'm not arguing anyones choice though, because I hate U2. One of the biggest bands in the world. I don't get it.

I've never seen something get over killed so badly, and sadly its the dead.... When original members are extoring their fans for the ridiculous prices those guys now charge and tour 15 times a fucking year... I don't really have much faith left in the music community.....
I actually like some of Coldplay's songs but my utter contempt for Nickelback - and all their shotty songs that all sound the same - could not stop me from hitting 'like'
lol. I got into a whole big debate about this on another thread. This jokester was arguing that white artists didn't steal music from black artists because no race can own one type of music.
