Most Demanding Sport

Discussion in 'Fitness, Health & Nutrition' started by Overflow, Jan 14, 2010.

  1. Sup guys, as the title says what in your opinion is the most demanding sport? This can be anything from snooker to sailing. I box and would back boxing being the hardest sport, stick a marathon runner on the bags and they won't last seconds.

    What's ya views?

Well I currently play hockey and I do go to my cities boxing club. I graduated highschool last year and I played football throughout highschool. In my past I played soccer, baseball and basketball in leagues.

From all those sports I would say boxing is the toughest for me, I've been playing hockey sinse I was 6 but I just started boxing at 18. I notice each sport uses different muscles and depending on your experience it will be more or less demanding; for example if I just started playing hockey now and I was boxing sinse 6, my 'hockey' muscles would be no where near as developed as they are after all these years of playing but I would be able to handle boxing with ease (I hope that makes sense to you).

If I go outside my personal experience I would bet UFC would be the most demanding. =P

  3. Wrestling or boxing

  4. I've done boxing and wrestling and football and soccer.

    My vote is wrestling.

It's like 10x the conditioning of anything else (putting all your strength against another moving thing putting all its strength against you is the most tiring thing ever) PLUS you're constantly dehydrated because you can't get bloated or go over weight.

Though with that said, I'm sure if an MMA person were to approach conditioning as hard as wrestlers, it would be even harder since its striking + grappling.

  5. I'll have to say motocross.

  6. I would agree that boxing and wrestling both require tremendous conditioning, probably more so than any other sport but this part of your post is ridiculous. It's obviously true because a marathoner hasn't trained those muscle groups. The opposite could be said about a boxer, i'd like to see one finish a marathon, let alone run a decent time.

  7. UFC is just a league, the sport is Mixed Martial Arts, which is what my vote was going to be. The many different disciplnes that could be thrown at you in a match is crazy to prepare for, so every fighter has to be well rounded. The constant training, physical endurance and mental challenge attribute to what I would consider the most "demanding".

  8. I think it's clear none of you have swung a leg over a dirtbike...but that's okay!

  9. I haven't but I can't imagine how a sport where you're only controlling the thing doing the work (hard as it may be) could be any harder than a sport where your own body is doing the work.

    hahahah WTF no

id say mma / boxing / wrestling MENTAL and definitely physical (one of the biggest reasons cutting weight)

Id say most mma fighters take it as serious as wrestling if not more. :)

  11. dude wrestling, thats all there is to it. I have hiked trails spanning hundreds of miles, seriously played just about every mainstream sport, ridden a motocrosss bike, ran and wrestled. once you have wrestled every thing else in life just seems easy.

  12. I mean MOTOCROSS....Racing! Any fat lazy dickhead can ride a dirtbike, but to be at the top...I mean, Jesus, none of you have a clue. Shit, anyone can do wrestling as well....but to be great at it. No reason to argue this.

I can def see how motocross is up there, you are straddling this beast of a machine then riding as hard as you can on a track that changes every lap, it requires alot of physical and mental endurance plus enough skill to handle situations where you are on the brink of losing control

I would give the edge to boxing tho. It requires tremendous strength, agility, power and genetically given reaction ability.

And in terms of crazy, ultra-marathons are nuts running for 24+hrs straight is absurd but that is just aerobic training and isnt as dynamic as most sports. Full Triathlons are straight ridiculous too

  14. well ive been playing football all my life and i must say its the most demanding imo. its much more than just running at people at full speed. any dumb fuck can play football but it takes someone who has discipline and is mentally and physically tough because football can be a pretty crazy sport.

  15. omfg wrestling.. That shit is fucking rediculous you haven't been in good condition until you have wrestled. football players at my highschool came to practice for one day and just couldn't do it. They were literally hugging the water fountain before the first hour was over and were talking like 6 hours not counting morning lift.

  16. WRESTLING

it may take longer to run a marathon but the energy used in those 5 mins, or however long it is, is so hard to recover from. it takes endurance, mental toughness, and strength.

  17. i gotta go with motocross myself, i wrestled and played lacrosse in highschool and have been racing motocross all my life. and yea its not tough to just ride a dirtbike around for obvious reasons but racin on a muddy track is the hardest thing no doubt. you get 40lbs of dirt and water caked on you then try bangin through ruts and slop for 30 mins as hard as you can. i can definitely see why wrestling is assumed to be the toughest cuz it is very tiring but i recoved more quickly from any match than any moto.

  18. Rugby pure and simple

  19. Most demanding is easily boxing, those guys really suffer a ton of punishment compared to other sports.

    Or possibly MMA.

  20. Boxing in my opinion.
