Mosquitoes: are they pests or not?

    I've noticed that there are more than plenty of mosquitoes surrounding my unfortunate grow site.

    There has been some plants that have been "pest"-ed so badly that I think they might die. SOMETHING is eating the leaves and I have heard from a little birdie that Male Mosquitoes actually eat marijuana plants.

    Does anybody have any supporting facts as to whether mosquitoes are pests or not?

    Not to me, my plants are surround in mosquitos..... got whiteflys though

    Thank you, I was thinking I might have to move all of my plants but instead im going to try to sprinkle pesticide in a perimeter around the site.

    Mosquitos don't have mouths. They have a needle like rod that sucks your blood.

    They live for only 24 hours also, and they hardly have enough room in their bodies to eat a plant. They feast on blood, they dont feed on plant matter.

    btw, i googled the word "mosquitos" to find this info.

    GREAT pic Vincent.

    Mosquitoes won´t touch your plant, but will adore you. Aren´t they just the most irritating creature on God´s earth??

    YES they are! everytime I go to my grow site I get eat up literaly! :(

    Well unfortunately DwG. The above information isn't 100% accurate. Mosquitos do actually suck nectare from plants. I got the following from:

    MJ does not have nectar.

    Nectar is only found in the flowers of plants that are pollinated by insects, the nectar is a sugary liquid that is there specifically to attract insects.

    Mosquitoes are harmless to your girls.

    Not quite I also have millions of mosquitos at my site but what i find most annoying is in the sun there are so many little horse flys or whatever you call them that don't leave you alone they circle you over and over again seriously I don't know what they want but they also bite so maybe they want some flesh but they are by far the most annoying insect all I hear is buzzzzzzzzzzzzz the whole time i'm up there while them landing on me wherever they can and you have to shoe them off right away or they WILL take a chomp outta u lol i get to the point where i am cursing aloud they piss me off so much.

    those flys will attack the highest part of your body so carry a stick and put a old sun/brim hat on it and hold it about 6 inches above your head. the stupid flys will attack that instead of your head.:devious: i dont know why but it works. stupid flys:p

    sounds like someones gonna get west nile / malaria from watering their already dying plants...
