More Percs, Less High?

  1. Hey everyone, Im new to the site so I dont know if im posting this in the wrong thread or not but my question is are my tokes less effective if I smoke through more percs? I just recently bought a Gear Perc add-on for my bong, which already has a perc but I havent really noticed any difference besides getting a much smoother hit. What are the pros and cons for an additional perc?

Ive always personally felt more water chambers have weakened both taste and potency. I think the difference is negligible but personally more than two is overkill.

  3. Pros: Cooler.. Smoother Smoke...

Cons: Increased drag.. can be a pain in the ass to clean.. catch and absorb more thc(as some thc is absorbed in the water.. actually more so than the tar.. so the more percs it goes through.. technically the more thc that is being filtered into the water as well

  4. THC isn't absorbed in water.

  5. You want a high rate of diffusion and one water chamber for the best taste and most potency.

Fuck percs unless it's a showerhead/circ and then only 1 of them.

  6. Percs are the way to go. I have a bong with 3 chambers that each have 6 percs in them. Along with this bong, I have an ashcatcher that has 11 percs in it. Smoothest hit I've ever had, and also anyone that has smoked out of it has agreed, and I would say I get higher on this bong than any other piece I have had. As for the taste, it tastes the same to me as it would out of any other piece, if not better because it's diffused through so much water. And don't believe the hype, cleaning it is not a pain at all. Rubbing alcohol and salt is all you need, and make sure you run hot water through your piece first; it helps break the resin down when you use the salt and rubbing alcohol.

  7. Sorry to sound dumb, but what is percs and diffusers?

  8. actually a small amount is..

I couldnt agree more. I think some gridded stemlines and things are good too though.

  10. The best way to find it is to google it. However, percs appear in many forms, the most common would be called the tree perc. It's basically a straight tube, and on the bottom of the tube there are slits cut into it. This is what the diffusion is: smoke going through these slits to make for a smoother hit

  11. Not to be a dick but that was a horrible explanation. And quite frankly you don't know what you're talking about.

You say your ashcatcher has 11 percs.......you have an 11-arm tree. Also, your chambers don't have 6 percs in them.....those are 6-arm tree percs.

Diffusion = breaking smoke into smaller bubbles, so that more smoke hits more surface area of the water, thereby making it smoother. A percolator (perc) is a device in a bong used to break up the smoke and filter it thru an extra water chamber. High rates of diffusion can also be achieved through the use of stemlines, gridlines, inlines, etc. Google Image search Sovereignty Glass.

  12. Most blanket statements are less than 5% fact.

  13. If THC were water soluble, how would people be able to make bubble hash with ice water?.....

  14. THC isn't water-soluble*.

  15. MaxYield,

They use ice water and it's the cold that stiffens up the trichomes and causes them to "snap" off. The fact that they do not DISSOLVE in the water means that water can be used as a vehicle to put the trichomes in SUSPENSION until they can be collected through proper filtration bags. In fact, a better way is to use dry ice and no water at all.

I think percs are fun, but probably more of a PITA to clean than they are worth. I'm no expert though. I just bought my first glass tube -no percolator, but has a diffused stem, ice pinches and I also put an ash catcher on it that has a pre-cooler/diffuser in it. It gives real nice, smooth, FLAVORFUL hits (I use a Hakko to light my bowls and vaporize my hash and oils). I've become a connoisseur! :)

Hell yeah Hakko gives flavorful hits. And your set up is good, trust me another perc would only detract from the awesome taste you have now.

The air then smelt not as bad
