    ROMULUS, Mich. -- Television talk show host Montel Williams was fined $100 after authorities at Detroit Metropolitan Airport found him with marijuana paraphernalia.

    Williams, who has multiple sclerosis, has been prescribed medicinal marijuana to treat the disease, The Detroit News reported. The 47-year-old paid the fine Monday night, boarded a flight and left Michigan.

    "He has prescriptions for many different medications for MS," a statement on his behalf read. "One of the medications he has been prescribed to alleviate his chronic pain is medical marijuana."

    Messages from The Associated Press seeking comment from producers of Williams' talk show weren't immediately returned.

    Airport police referred calls to airport spokesman Mike Conway, who declined to comment on the matter.

    Great, so we have a famous person that is on medical marijuana, and they don't even help the cause? WTF?

    I would think he probably has a bit of clout, I wish he'd step up to the plate.

    you have a card for medicinal marijuana....and you paid a FINE!.....= soo not stepping up.
    i think if this were made an issue it wuld be a nice little step.

    Right on Higha, the more celebs the better for the medical mj bandwagon. NORML should recruit Montel for the movement.

    I don't get something.. If he has a card that entitles him to use MJ....... Why the f**k can the get him for the accesories for that use??

    Does this mean he can use MJ, but just can't have anything on him that he would use to smoke it??? WTF

    Good question...I wonder what the medical mj laws are in Michigan? That's probably the answer.

    BTW, I emailed NORML & they've already got calls into Montel to see if he'll come out & back them on medical mj. We should probably send him support emails encouraging him do to the same. Whatta ya say Blades?

    Federal law outweighs state law everytime. That's why there are so many problems in Cali.

    Montel may not step up, guys, which sucks...he has MS and could really use his status to help change things.

    Give me an email addy and I'll send all kinds of mail to him!

    That makes sense but it's kind of f'ed up...


    Thats like being given a bowl of special pudding but you can't put it in a bowl!!!


    The laws are so messed up...


    It's the same way in the construction buiss... You have liscense but you can't use them in some cases..

    Exactly Bud Head....that's why we need to organize and recruit high profile individuals to help raise the profile of the cause! If we stand up together, the gov will listen to us. I feel the movement going our way, we just need to keep it going, let our voices be heard & votes be counted!

    Hey, Buzz...why don't you post something in the Legalization forum to get people to email him? Maybe some who go there and not here will also write to him. I think I did that with my Chong thread, too. :)

    I'm sure its not the money and I don't know if he's a pussy or not...he did graduate from the Naval Academy & served in the Marines...so he's probably got some backbone...I think his reluctance to speak out more is totally related to his career...probably his handlers, manager, TV company thinks this could hurt his ratings, that's why they need to hear that he's got our support...to show that his use of medical mj isn't a liability with the public, its a positive.
