MMJ for Asthma???

Discussion in 'Medical Marijuana Usage and Applications' started by buccsluvr, Aug 14, 2007.

  1. Hey everybody i was just curious if anyone had heard that they will accept asthma as a medical reason to obtain MMJ. I have used many different kinds of inhalers and even a few types of pills. But when i take a hit it makes my throat and lungs open up and allow more oxygen to pass through anyone got any opinions on this??? I am from california if that helps at all

  2. THC is a bronchial dialator, so it's entirely feasible. Go hit up your doc for a green card ;)

  3. As far as I know it's a legit reason... MMJ has been proven to be a bronchi-dilator, so I'm thinking you should be OK... Talk to your doc about it, and if he/she disagrees, find a pot-doc and talk to him/her... Try to get a few opinions... Also, it might be wise to keep hold of your inhalers for sudden/severe attacks (I don't know how bad your asthma is, so yeah...)... Good luck bro. :D

  4. I have asthma as well, and it seems that sometimes a good bong hit of some kind bud can cure a minor attack. I would assume that vaporizers would give you better relief, as no kind of smoke is good for asthmatics. I smoke probably 7-8 ciggs a day and take around 8-9 bong hits a day. I'm worried that I take too big of bong hits, because i grind up a good .6 bowls of kind herb per bowl, and cash it all in one fat toke, that just gets me stoned to the bone for a good 45 mins.

  5. Thank you all for your opinions i will always have my inhaler in case anything ever happens! i am going to make an appointment at my doctors office tomorrow and talk it over with him and if he thinks its a bad idea then i will talk to another one about it and see what he thinks

  6. From one Asthmatic to another, marijuana is the best medicine. You should definatly get a green card.

  8. Hell yes, smoking daily (or near it) has singlehandedly cut my emergency inhaler use down from ~5 times a month to less than monthly. I thought about applying for medical but I get way better weed than the gov't sells, and the cops don't hassle me anyhow. Might apply if I ever get growing.

  9. Tell them you want to vaporize it -- it'll help your cause... (You should vape, anyway, as an asthmatic)...

  10. yea i have i vapezilla now but i really wanna buy a volcano vape. yes as an asthmatic person i have to use a vaporizer thats all most all i can smoke except the occasional joint. Thank you all for your opinions and will get back too you after the appointment

  11. Good luck man! Have you ever tried edibles? *MMMM* is all I gotta say :D

  12. Hey buccsluvr -

I got my MMJ card due to my asthma - actually my migraines, but I didn't have any documentation in my medical records for the past 3 years regarding my migraines because MMJ helps them so much. So I was able to use my asthma to get my card. If you inhale correctly and hold it in correctly, the results with the prevention of asthma attacks is amazing. I haven't yet tried it when I'm actually having an attack, but my attacks have subsided substantially and when I do have them I can pinpoint the cause of them - and it's not the marijuana. Vaping certainly helps too - especially when you know certain environmental elements could cause you problems. It seems contradictory to those that don't understand (I had to argue the point with my life insurance company - and won!), but it truly does help!

    Good luck to you!

  13. hey what insurance company do you have ? because im looking for one that will actually carry a bill for medical. if you could pm me the specifics you did it would be awesome.

  14. Green Ganja: I pm'd you my story - as you read. Unfortunately, it dealt with a life insurance policy and not actual medical insurance that would cover costs for medical marijuana. Unfortunately, I don't see that happening any time soon - if at all. We've got to get it re-categorized and legalized before we can even dream of an insurance company covering part of the cost - Most won't even cover medicines that the federal government backs (Although medical marijuana would be much cheaper to grow and distribute - not the mention if you're a gardener yourself!) Good luck if you look, and I'd be interested to know if you find somebody!

evilbuttgroove: When I first read your post, I read your signature (not seeing your question), and I was thinking... "What the F is this guy on??" Then I realized that I'm fairly medicated right now - which explains it!! LOL:smoking: Anyways, I'm in California...
