MMJ and appetite loss

Discussion in 'Medical Cannabis: Treatments & Patient Experiences' started by UNAB0MB3R, Feb 2, 2010.

  1. Lately i have had some pretty bad appetite loss, to the point i feel nauseous at the sight of food. This has been going on for about 6 months now but has got alot worse in the last few weeks and it has left me severly underweight. I have done some research online and there are some medications such as megestrol acetate which has some serious side effects. (normally reserved for anorexia in cancer patients) as well as fluoxymesterone (male testontrone, again with some severe side effects) Out of all the possible cures MMJ is the most desirable, not only because its good ole mj, but it has the least side effects and many of them are not "send you back to the hospital if shit goes wrong" bad.

So, my question to you is if i am not listed in catagory one for perscription (although anorexia in cancer patients is) what is the best way to bring it up to my doctor? and what are my chances of not going on some fucked up pill that could leave me with severe weight gain and titties?

Also, it would be under canadian law, but any advice is welcome.

  2. do a google search for Cachexia. as this is what i have been diagnosed with along with severe cronic pain , and muscle spasms from a broken neck and spinal cord injury. megastrol only worked for a few weeks then nothing. Merinol is way to expensive and insurance wont cover it. Do you have any atrophy (body wasting)? If not it may be hard to convince a doctor your need for marijuana.
    Wink

  3. your doc is there to help you, just ask him about mj for your issue if he declines go somewhere else, dont let 1 doc stop you from getting your meds. its your right to get a second opinion when your not getting what you need.
