MMC in NJ for anxiety

Discussion in 'Marijuana Legalization' started by Peate, Apr 20, 2019.

  1. So i have had really bad anxiety since i was 15 and I just turned 18 so I wanted to try medical marijuana since every time Ive used it in the past, its helped. I’ve been wanting to get a job but the thought of an interview petrifies me. Does anyone have any suggestions for a specific doctor or practice? Every place I’ve seen is just for pain, or at least it doesn't say anything about anxiety.

  2. Do they drug test for employment where you live? I can't imagine how getting high would help you interview better but we're all a bit different.

  3. Sometimes they do but for the employment im looking for they dont do it often.

  4. Have you ever tried CBD? It doesn't do anything for me but some people swear by it.

  5. When I was looking into getting my NJ Card, I found the same. Most doctors seem to be specialist of cancer/pain management.

You can go to any of these alternative treatments for a recommendation. I am currently going through the process with ReLeaf. The doctor specializes in pain, but it didn't matter much to him. With releaf it only takes 1 appointment if you have medical records. 4 weeks if you have no medical records.

  6. Depends. I've had sativa strains that make me feel amazing and not anxious and have had indicas that I get paranoid off of. Just gotta find the right strains for you. And I think a closer thc cbd ratio/ generally not as much thc can help keep things chill.

  7. I used to make straight sativa oil and it would put my friends too sleep so who knows

  8. Yes you can get your MMJ card if you have anxiety in NJ. Finding a GP that will recommend it may be tough, I went to a different doctor than my regular one, it cost me a few hundred bucks last April but I have been legal for a year and that alone has helped my anxiety. You just need your medical records stating you have anxiety and then make an appointment with a doctor that is listed on the state website.

  9. I've been suffering from anxiety since about the same age, and now I'm in my mid 30's... A little smoke a night always seemed to relax me, help me sleep, and wake up refreshed to get through my day... I rarely ever consumed during the day, it always seemed to make things worse... something about the sun going down and feeling more relaxed.. Yep I'm crazy. I don't really drink alcohol, not often... and sort of refuse to as I just don't like it.

I've been curious in regards to getting a MMJ card in NJ but have a feeling they'll just laugh at me. I started meds for anxiety a few years ago since it's rather difficult to get a reliable source around here (that you can trust). I've got my share of sports injuries that still linger, the worst being my ankle and my lower back... doctors always want to prescribe pain meds but I won't take them...

I'm already disappointed I started taking the anxiety meds and know that if I try to see an MMJ doctor they'll probably either question me about it or deny me since I'm already medicated (yes legally doctor and all). I know doctors don't like to give anything out to anyone (mixing stuff), although I already know MJ and my specific medication have no conflicts.

  10. Don't know why you think they would laugh at you in NJ, you are prescribed an anti-anxiety medication - that alone is enough to be eligible for your medical marijuana card. My chart said the patient mentioned he has anxiety and it has gotten worse since these events in his life and that was enough to get my card last April.

My wife also suffers from anxiety and has been on an anxiety medication for over 10 years - no issue getting her card at all, the doctor was happy to hear she reduced the amount of anxiety medication she uses by using cannabis.

Having said that, a doctor has to be registered in the state of NJ to recommend medical cannabis, so it is likely your GP could not recommend it and you would need to see an alternative doctor. It cost me around $400 for my initial appts to get qualified, another $100 to the state for my card for 2 years, and another $100 every 3 months to recertify my prescription (the way the law is written in NJ, but this will hopefully change soon)

    Hope that info helps.

  11. I've found a few local doctors, several seem to accept Cash or are Cash only (which is good as I have no Health Insurance at the moment)..... That was one concern, my PCP knows I smoke and doesn't not care, he's always mentioned he has no issues with marijuana despite having to test me each visit every 2-3 months just because it's "mandatory" for what he prescribes.

I know for a fact that marijuana will help and lower my anxiety meds, it does, when able to get a reliable source that is consistent.. which is not easy around these parts. It's just become a little too dry around here come actual bud aka flour which is what I enjoy, I don't mind the cartridges, I enjoy vaping with my Pax... but neither are the same as a bowl hit of something good.

It seems a little pricey, I will have to do the math. I don't think it will be out of reach, I just hope whomever the doctor is doesn't require a lot of visits.. which I don't have time + money for and I know some doctors are a pain in the butt.. I'd just like to get the card, and get to a dispensary heh... I appreciate the info, hopefully I can find someone this week... Just a shame we haven't legalized like we were "promised" by now...

  12. Easy mate! Just research online for a list of clinics and read their user reviews. This will give you an idea of which clinic is worth the shot. If it’s a 420 clinic it will definitely treat anxiety because it’s one of the qualifying condition for getting the medical marijuana card. So,try this out and see if you find the right clinic for yourself. Cheers!

  13. I had an appointment and reschedule it as I need to see my family physician who diagnosed me several years ago and pickup the medical records. With the anxiety being a qualifier as the gentlemen on the phone said at one clinic plus my arthritis which is so bad in my ankle (had an MRI done few years back), they said I already qualify... So I can wait another week or two.

Apparently the State of NJ squashed legalization plans for 2019, probably won't happen until 2021 if they want to vote for it in 2020. So they are expanding the medical program as much as possible it seems... guessing they have a lot of leftovers starting to sit around at those few dispensaries.

I would like to have the card and go through the process properly, I don't care about prices since anything on the street here is garbage unless it's in form of a cartridge (just isn't the same as flour to me...). I'd much rather give my money to a "store" or "business", be safe, and know what I'm getting.. and of course try a variety of strains if available.. since the only flour that floats around these parts is already pathetic and overpriced... just tired of supporting a dirty dealer (not all are but lately...). I'd rather see the State do whatever with the money versus some kid that think's he's above the law and takes the most ridiculous risks just to make a dollar... not worth the hassle anymore, getting old... but good things are coming!
