MJ for ADHD?

Discussion in 'Medical Marijuana Usage and Applications' started by Wiggy1138, Aug 15, 2008.

  1. I have been diagnosed with adult ADHD. I tried adderall, it was ok but it's still speed. ritalin was boring as hell. I tried a new one: Stratera a non-stimulant, worst side-effects ever. I'm not getting a percription for MJ or anything but am wondering if a doctor would perscribe for ADD? My ADD is managable with much excercise but I don't get enough. do you think MJ might help or doen't help with ADD?

  2. pretty sure smoking weed makes you forgetful enough already

  3. mmm... yeah it does. I do forget some really simple things sometimes. like remebering to pay the IRS and where did I put my wallet last night. stuff like that.

  4. exercise has never helped my add.
weed is great if you take it on the daily. the occasional toke is recreational, but if you go at it all day everyday you will notice that smoking really helps calm you and stop your brain from racing.
adderall is very effective.. but only if you can smoke weed too :D

  5. when I say excercise I mean alot of excersise. not 30 minutes in a gym more like 2 hours. trust it works. you want a clear head wear out your body. adderall does this in a way. but I think adderall is not for me. its low grade speed. but it's better than speed.
I smoke on the daily 2X a day. but it's more sedation I suppose. I like that part.

  6. working out can't hurt unless you have an injury or heart condition but ritalin helped me just start with low doses first...

  7. Technicly, you cant have ADD any more. They took it out of the books.
If you have it, now ADD and ADHD are the same thing. they just call them both ADHD.
I also took adderall, stretara and ridelin for ADHD. I didnt like any of them so i stoped taking them.
Honesly, MJ didnt help me one bit. It made everything worse. I never smoke when I know im about to do anything important because i know it will F**k everything up.
Some people say it helps them but it didnt do anything helpfull for me.
    Everybody is diffrent though.

  8. helped me out a to. i think i've smoked so much my ADHD has goten much better permenantly, even when im sober its better then before when i never smoked

  9. I have also noticed the same thing hoodtalker, also before I started smoking I had serious
anger/temper problems but now I'm the chillest person I know :smoke:

  10. OK, I work as a teacher's aide- so I see a lot of kids. A few years back we had a 7th grader who was failing badly. Severe ADHD- just couldn't concentrate. He started coming in REEKING of pot- and did his work! The teacher and I just looked toward heaven and let well enough alone! He passed by the skin of his teeth!

Here are some studies on ADHD and cannabis. For some folks, it works. Hope you're one!

If you are in California, yes, you can get a RECOMMENDATION for cannabis to treat ADHD- I know of an adult who has one for it. If you are under 18, your parents will have to sign off on your recommendation. (It is NOT a prescription) Good luck, hon!- Granny

  11. I need to move to Cali!

  12. I have ADD and smoking helps me out so much. I should definitely be given a prescrip of marijuana over some stupid concerta. If only my doctor knew shit...

  13. i agree, if you keep doing it everyday it works wonders on my anxiety.

  14. Strattera was the worst prescription drug i've ever taken. Ritalin was bad too. the side affects were terrible, i lost tons of weight and just became a depressed shell of myself... the herb has made life better. :smoking:

  15. Been diagnosed with adhd since I was 6 and took meds until I was 15. Then I found mj and I've never looked back.

Smoking daily has definitely helped me tons, when I'm high and even when I'm sober.

  16. "If only my doctor knew shit" .......................click the link in my sig! Learn some"s#it"!

Now, why don't you educate him! In Canada, the doctors admit that most of what they know about cannabis comes from their PATIENTS! If you don't dare to do it in person, print out the first few pages of my list, or whatever looks cool to you (link is below) and add the URL. Mail it. In case your doctor is conservative and would suffer "culture shock" from GC, you might want to do it anonymously and also use my "safe", "innocent" little MMJ site- same post. different addy. It is also a good place to show the list to parents, college profs, etc. DARE him to read all the titles! (It comes out to over 65 pages of 10 font! Hope he can speed read! lol)

We will win the War against Prohibition, one mind at a time. All it would take for cannabis to be legal, is for every "pothead" to convince one more person that cannabis IS medicine! When I started smoking, there wasn't even the CONCEPT of MMJ! Now, 65% to 85% of the voters support it. The reason for the change? EDUCATION!

    So educate!

    Granny

ps- Wiggley, yes, you do! ASAP!!!

Im not a doctor or anything but one of my closest friends has ADHD and weed helps him an enormous amount in his daily life. Hes pretty hard to deal with when hes sober because hes practically bouncing off the walls trying to find stuff to do even when were in the middle of something but hes rarely ever sober hes easily the biggest toker I know and if he didnt toke I have no clue what he would be like it just calms him down incredibly to the point where he can actually do something for more than 5 minutes. You can actually talk to him when hes stoned because hes not thinking about something different every 2 seconds but its still harder than talking to most people even after a big session.

To the people who suffer from this what exactly is it like to have ADHD? If I knew more about the disease I would have a better understanding of why he does what he does.

  18. it's simular to dyslexia but it's a little different. The mind can try to process everything in a global way. A person with dyslexia will see a chalkboard like everyone else, but they will wrap their brain around 'what makes a chalkboard work' and what is written on it at the same time. ADHD is like that especially when it come to conversations. A person with ADHD wraps their mind around the conversation, how that relates to them, what clothes the person is wearing watching their mouth move and wondering "why are their teeth so white?" We think globally. everything must be processed at once and analized at once. Thats why people with ADHD have trouble completeing projects. because when we think about a certain project, we must think about all the projects at once.
