Mississippi to legalize marijuana in 2016

  1. Wow that's a really vaguely written law good intentions, but I think they didn't really work on it too long. I think the purpose is simply to raise awareness. With how reprehensible southern states are, it'll never pass.

Generally like in California and the recreational states it takes several attempts. Each one usually works on refining the details of the law to make them workable in a legal context. Along the way it gets more and more exposure each time around and less and less criticism because of refinements to the wording and policy.

I expect the southern states to legalize it only after the Federal government legalizes it and even then to be dragged kicking and screaming into modern times.
  2. I will still avoid Mississippi at all costs.... :bolt:
  3. Lol if that law passed it would be the cheapest place to get weed in the United states
mid grade would cost like $20 an ounce
  4. As long as I can get it near the border and hop back over to NC as fast as possible than I will consider it haha.
  5. Mississippi?

    Legalize Weed?

HA! thats a funny joke there.

But seriously, it way to soon for a southern state to go full blown recreational, especially with as loose a bill as that. Itd be awesome, but it aint happening
  6. lolololol
  7. Oh I doubt that very much even on a federal level. Unlimited amounts of weed. Hahahahahahahahaha thats funny.

    ^preach that truth!^
  8. I'm from Mississippi and I would still try to avoid at all costs lol

    Get high, rule the world
  9. Wat. The law states unlimited amounts if passed lol.
  10. LOL the law is lying or every stoner on Earth would move there and keep warehouses full of weed stacked to the roof with Kilos.
  11. yea so

Rhode Island isn't even on the list. And look at Massachusetts's opposition argument and who the opposition is. Can't keep it away from kids ? They couldn't keep it away from high school kids in 1982. What makes them think they can do it now or in the future ? Prescription drugs ? I hung out with some pretty sketchy kids when I was younger, none of them were looking for or interested in prescription drugs. Pill popping is for anxiety ridden housewives.
In all honesty, I'd rather have my kid hitting the bong than swallowing those damned prescription drugs. FU officer fascist prison lover.
    Opposition Opponents
    • Massachusetts Chiefs of Police Association
    • A. Wayne Sampson, Executive Director of the Massachusetts Chiefs of Police Association, stated, "We have seen the detrimental effects it has on families, especially youth. From our experience in homes, families, they can't keep prescription medications from the kids today and there is certainly nothing that would indicate they could keep legal marijuana from kids."
  13. A state can legalize marijuana, but feds can still make busts on anyone possessing it
  14. From the MMP website:
Did you know Mississippi is a "decrim" state?
Mississippi is one of the 18 states that have decriminalized personal use marijuana possession. First offense possession of 30 grams (a little more than an ounce) is punishable by a $250 fine instead of jail time and a civil summons as opposed to arrest, as long as the offender provides proof of identity and a written promise to appear in court."
As far as Southern states go, I would call Mississippi a bit on the progressive side.
The legislation mentioned above is likely too vague and permissive to pass but it is a good first attempt.
