    Hey blades.

So I searched on the word Misanthropy on our forum, and only got one thread, and sad to say though, I wasn't too interested, as it seemed the person posting it had alot of the same simple misanthropic malaise that a young person, having gone through a personal tragedy, dips his feet into temporarily in order to have some sense of self worth "I'm not like them! I can't be! I'm a smart misanthropist and not like the others!"

This is NOT misanthropy, this is a whole lot of simple pity party bitching based off of an emotional outburst, and NOT on a philosophical approach to humanity and its problems.

Now that I've had my own fair share of bitching, for which I notice and acknowledge my own innately human tendency to be hypocritical, let me begin with what Misanthropy has come to mean to me.

I derive a good deal of my philosophical understanding from ancient to modern and contemporary writers and a handful of modern comedians, whom I feel are involved in one of the few honest professions left: telling the truth.

Lao Tzu, Zhuangzi, Ayn Rand, Robert Wright, Robert M. Pirsing, Eric Hoffer, Douglas Rushkoff, Aldous Huxley, George Carlin, Bill Hicks, and Doug Stanhope all have contributed some part to my multifaceted philosophy that essentially comes down to the fact that:

All of Mankind is to be hated.

BUT only because he'll always be capable of doing good

INSTEAD, mankind has historically and consistently raped and pillaged his own people and land in the pursuit of power or profit. In turn, mankind has left more and more individual persons disengaged and disenfranchised with their own communities and their own environment in order to prop up a small few elites under the guise of capitalism while actually operating as an Imperial Fascist Regime.

Very few people today would deny that Corporations are some of the most scrutinized entities today, as they should be, and it is with Corporations that I start my argument that indeed mankind is to be hated, because Corporations are nothing less than the amalgamated sewage that history has left us to lap up in a desperate attempt to survive.

Corporations combine the most terrible aspects of both Religion and Politics, which is no surprise, since their power encapsulates and blends together with the power of Religious institutions and Political Organizations, including our own governments. They deny the spiritual importance of the individual and emphasize and dramatize the role of the group, which in this case is the Corporation, which has, in a disgustingly pompous way, managed in the 19th century to gain the status of person-hood in court.

Even if one were to say that Corporations rights as people in court was a good thing (which it is most certainly NOT!), one would have to argue that the Corporations sway with the judicial system would have no outcome on say, a lawsuit by an individual against a Corporation. It's not like individuals haven't won lawsuits against corporations, but there are huge problems with bills being passed that further the power and influence of corporations, while diminishing the power and voice of the people.

I could go on and on about Corporations, but just read Douglas Rushkoff's book, Life Inc. or watch the documentary, The Corporation to get what my take and opinion on it is.

Of course, the People, or the Public, is not to be spared by a Misanthropic Philosophy, after all People are inherently to be hated, for all of their faults, no matter how large or minor. This isn't to say that People don't have their good sides, and yes, people should be encouraged to be better, whatever that means.

But please remember that the hatred a Misanthrope feels is quite simply the inverse of love. We hate because we love only that which is good in humanity, we hate because we must hate what is at fault with mankind. We are usually frustrated, depressed, or disappointed because many of us have come to the conclusion that because of our humanity, any vain attempt to change people will only end in a compromise, not a victory; and a compromise with the enemy of the Misanthrope (which is any group or individual whom would control, censor, and conquer the voice and will of any person, including the group of the public itself) is to accept defeat.

The public is to be hated for giving up power to larger entities, the public is to be hated because the public is a group, and all groups, no matter their efforts and accomplishments, are to be dismissed as being in the throws of a fanatical passion, which is required for any movement to begin! Groups are nothing without their fanatics, nothing without their leaders, nothing without their gurus. And it is these fanatics, leaders, and gurus that have continually confused and disenfranchised the public, whom organize into groups yet again and wonder why their compromise with the group has ended only in defeat!

Individuals have done more good for humanity than any group, than any movement, than any institution in any time period! Any movement that claims victory has stolen the banner of one man or woman! One individual and claimed it as their own, though often the group simplifies the ideas of one man so as to be easily conveyed to the group. It is distilled so as to be used as a political ploy. Any leader of any group can only claim victory for himself, not his constituents. For them it is only a compromise, and will only lead, eventually, to sentiments that will spark the next fanatic, the next revolution, and so on. Because people need something or someone to believe in so badly that they will join any group that makes them forget their own inadequacies and fears.

As Carlin once said, "So maybe its not the politicians who suck, maybe something else sucks around here, like. . the public. Yeah, the public sucks, Fuck hope. Makes a good campaign slogan, doesn't it?"

For more on fanatics and groups, see The Perennial Philosophy by Aldous Huxley, The True Believer by Eric Hoffer, and Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand.

This next section has to do with what man has done to the Environment. Now, I'm not much for Environmentalist bullshit, Environmentalists are full of bullshit just like ANY OTHER GROUP OUT THERE! Mother Earth doesn't need saving, Mother Earth has indeed been raped, but trust me, Mother Earth can handle it. It is rather, in my view, HUMANITY whom HUMANITY has raped.

The notion of Nature being outside of society has been a lie we've told ourselves ever since modern industrial society and culture took root during the last turn of the century. Though man had been extensively utilizing Earth's resources, it was only after the discovery of Oil's extensive elaborate multi-faceted applications that we truly started to "Rape the Planet."

Now, if you don't believe in Climate Change, then you are ignoring the people we've trusted with studying and safeguarding our Weather, our Oceans, our PLANET and indeed our only home. One has only to listen to any scientist at NOAA (National Oceanic Association of America) to understand why this has got so many people concerned.

The subject of Climate Change brings many emotions when I think of the extent to which man's hand has been involved for so long. Man has always utilized whatever resources were available to him, and a few sparkling individuals in history lifted mankind up and out of the dirt with a few key innovations involving the destruction of energy in order to create products. This is the essential physical rule of the universe. Energy cannot be created, it can only be utilized/destroyed in a way that is as efficient as possible.

BUT THAT IS NOT WHAT WE HAVE BEEN DOING!

Due to large corporations, due to confusion amongst activist groups, and due to the general malaise of the public, the contributing factors to climate change do not cease, due to the lack of economic and political interest. What this means is that we are WAITING FOR THE LAST DROP OF OIL BEFORE CONSIDERING WHAT TO DO! Now you may want to believe that our government or SOMEBODY is looking out for us, trust me, SOMEBODY IS WAITING FOR THE LAST DROP OF OIL, but rather than thinking about how to stave it off, or invest in alternative renewable energies, this SOMEBODY IS THINKING ABOUT HOW TO GET RICH OFF OF IT ALL! Most of the older oil investors, by the way, are buying up some of the world's last fresh water supplies in a desperate attempt at investing in this future "commodity." (See the Documentary, Blue Gold).

This isn't to say I don't hate Environmentalists. Environmentalists are nothing less than a group. Their lifestyles do NOT REFLECT THEIR STATEMENTS! I do not care if you have solar panels, ride a bicycle, are a vegan, drive an electric car, take the train, eat local, or buy carbon credits!

ALL ENVIRONMENTALISTS DO NOT DO THE MOST IMPORTANT THING WHICH IS TO NOT CONSUME ANY, AND I MEAN ANY OIL! That means turning off your computer right now because even if your home is solar powered, the oil required to make the computer, its parts, and the electricity required to fuel the server that is bringing this page to your eyes is contributing in some way to climate change!

Having a child is by far the worst thing you could do to the Environment right now, just watch the video at the end of this by Doug Stanhope, he essentially has my sentiments.

In addition to that, Big Agriculture and Big Oil have already boosted the human population alot by providing the safety and security and energy to grow the human population to nearly 7 billion, all of whom would drive a car and own a gas powered house if they could. Alot of us owe every dinner we ever had to some Ammonium Nitrate fertilizer which fed the Genetically Modified Corn, which fed the Cows, Chickens, and Pigs that show up in ALL of the Fast Food Corporations, and ALL of the Supermarket Corporations. Even the Industrial Lettuce shipped halfway across the world, sprayed with a Petroleum derived insecticide, and driven five hundred miles to your supermarket in a Petroleum derived truck, driving on Petroleum derived tires, on a partially Petroleum derived asphalt road.

Don't give me that Organic Bullshit, it's another group, another set of Corporation offshoot products, and I'll bet you in a few years I"ll be able to buy ORGANIC High Fructose Corn Syrup, and you and I both know that Organic Inedible Corn is no different than the GMO Idaho based corn that we eat today. (see the Documentary, King Corn).

The reason for this is simple, it's not economical, there's not enough time and energy in grass to raise our farm animals properly and even if we did, it could not supply the growing demand for meat, since most animals are being fed corn which has been fed a derivative of OIL. So what do we do? We do everything HUMANLY possible to turn nature into a machine, we inject hormones to make them grow faster, we feed them corn to make them grow fat and faster, we cage them and abuse them and then PROCESS them! This is how we've RAPED our animals, and that's how we've RAPED ourselves. This food is unhealthy and unsafe and unclean, and its our GOVERNMENT, the voice of the CORPORATIONS, whom we elected to DO THIS TO US! They did it to us because we allowed them to DO IT TO US! We sat down and took that big Red White and Blue Dick up the ASS all the WAY!

For more on how we've raped humanity and the environment, see the documentaries, Collapse, Food Inc., and Blind Spot.

Finally I come to my last and most complex facet on why I hate Mankind SO MUCH and have finally come to align myself with that most atrocious of all things, a Group, known as Misanthropists.

This last section has to do with the bastardization of belief, and the end of Hope. It has to do with religion. Now, as George Carlin so aptly put many years ago, "Religion has got to be the biggest bullshit story ever told!"

And its true! Though in my view, having read a bit about religion (The Evolution of God, The Moral Animal, The Zhuangzi, The Tao te Ching), I think of religion more as the beginnings of man coming into his own thinking. Understanding that he CAN do good, but what is GOOD and what is NOT GOOD comes into constant question, and there is no one particular answer.

The struggling with the Divine, the conception that man is capable of being more than himself or outside himself is inherently flawed, and has alot more to do with Western Culture than Eastern. My personal view holds, however, that it would be more apt to say that mankind's goal, if he has one, is to define and therefore become more HUMAN. That is what is meant to be HUMANE! But one cannot become more human when one acts more like an animal. The appearance of MORALS in history coincides with more HUMAN tendencies.

Of course, one could argue that Rape and Murder are not animal, but rather Human actions, human tendencies. And its true, but are these Moral? In other words, did these actions HELP SOMEBODY? Or HURT SOMEBODY?

If one is to be truly human, one must recognize all of humanity as his brothers, as LIKE HIM/HER! To murder and rape is to plunder humanity, to take what is most intimately human, their individuality, by physical force, brutish mutilation, and ultimate destruction! These actions are to be hated, and it is a practice many have justified under many banners, both Religious and Political.

What is most atrocious about Religion today is how close knit and lacking in openness it is. Religious institutions are so quick to convert, and so slow to listen to other opinions and ideas, unless they can easily somehow align them with their own. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but the spiritual longing most people feel comes from a need to belong, a need to belong to something larger than one's self, and this can only TRULY come from recognizing every living thing as sacred, every human being as your brother, every place as being significant, and every time as being NOW!

It is only then that change can come from within the individual, it is only then that the Truth behind the EVILS of GROUP THINKING becomes clear, it is only then that one can recognize the necessity to TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR ONE's OWN ACTIONS, and RECONCILE THE ATROCITIES OF THE PAST WITH THE IMPERATIVE NEED TO ADDRESS THE FUTURE!

But it certainly doesn't look like things are changing for the better. Mankind is, as a group, committing mass suicide. And I, as a Misanthropist, whom simultaneously loves and hates humanity, am conflicted . . on how to react. To cry, to laugh, to scream, or to shout, or to simply be silent . . and go down with the ship that is the Human Race.

Modern systems need broken down.. everythings about money & power instead of "the greater good of human kind." Not that i'm trying to push any hippy beliefs around.. but the more you look around the more you notice shit like this.

People are lazy and need a crutch for their own fears and desires.. the typical western brainwashed Christian will do "good" to increase "karma" (if they even look at it THAT way) to go to "heaven" and shy away from the "bad" to refrain from going to "hell".

People take things to the extreme, but that doesn't mean it's wrong. Where it gets touchy is when one wants to try and fuel the ego by making comments and statements based upon what "they're doing" to help and focusing on others "negatives"

When it comes to the environment, I think its about moderation. But we've gone so far down the pooper in the last 100 or so years that we've focused on personal wealth and attainment, trying to put your family in a place to succeed.. in the eyes of others. Its a shame, really... everyone wants to get to "that next step" or "that next promotion so I can make just a little more money to buy more things"

The thing that gets me is you shouldn't be born into a religion.. like, I don't think you should be a christian because your family is.. I don't think you can be born into truth, it's something you have to find on your own.

  4. There's a new party being born:
The People Who Hate People Party.
"People who hate people... come together!"

    "No!"

We're kinda having trouble getting off the board but y'know.

    "Are you gonna be there?"

    "Yeh"

    "Then I aint fucking coming."

    "But you're our strongest member"

    "Fuck you!"

"Thats what am talking about. You asshole!"

    "Fuck off!"

Damn we almost had a meeting going! So hard to get my people together.

Lol, somehow I missed that one. And I love Bill Hicks. Yet another great Misanthropic Comedian.

  6. selfless love of one person for another without sexual implications (especially love that is spiritual in nature) is much more cool than any misanthropic trend:cool:

  7. I agree to a certain extent. Personally I think that selfless love of ALL of humanity, without any personal agendas involved, is best. But of course, what I've just described is impossible.

Love is questionable in regards to even its existence. Some languages have no word for the term love, or have trouble expressing it without a multitudinous barrage of words and descriptors. Personally I think love is a cute idea, but fictional, much like the idea of human rights, and the idea of human freedom. Cute ideas, but fictional as long as all of humanity cannot agree on what those terms mean and can follow them unerringly.

Misanthropy is not a trend, misanthropy is not a movement, it is a hatred of humanity stemmed from the idea that love for humanity can only exist if humanity, AS A WHOLE, deserves to be loved. Which it does NOT.

We torture, murder, rape, assassinate, mutilate, and abuse our fellow men and call ourselves human beings. To me, THESE are the things that define mankind much more prominently than any list of positive attributes one could assign to mankind. These negative traits are far more real and apparent than our supposed capacity for love, kindness, and wisdom, which exist only on the fringes of our thoughts.

Sure, we're CAPABLE, of becoming enlightened, wise, good-natured human beings, but time and time again, over and over throughout history, we continue to fuck each other over in the interest of self-gratification, consumption, and power. No ONE person is at fault, no conspiracy is being played out by one group against another, this is ALL OF HUMANITY FUCKING HUMANITY OVER, taking the environment down into hell with it.

So sure, we can all just look at our own personal relationships, take comfort in the fact that "At least I'M a good person!" but just remember that it is OUR collective lack of action, OUR collective lack of good will towards each other, OUR continual and endless pursuit of personal wealth and happiness that fuels the mechanizations of our society which will eventually destroy US, and destroy our planet.

One may ask, "Well who are you to make these statements? Who are you to make such judgments?"
And to such a person, I would say, "I'm ME, FUCK YOU!"

  8. I don't really hate or love humanity, I pity humanity.

I tried putting it into words but it's hard to explain, if someone has no moral code and fucks people over at every turn, I'm more inclined to feel sorry for him, because I've fucked people over, and treating everyone I meet with respect and trying to consider how other people feel about the things I'm about to do, feels a lot better.

I like being like that, I don't really do it to elevate myself from the rest of humanity and say "You're bad and I'm good", I know that I like living a whole lot more if I can look at myself in the mirror everyday, and I apply that knowledge to all of humanity.

I'm probably naive because there are bound to be a lot of people who actually enjoy fucking people over, but most of the time people get fucked over for personal gain, and the joy of personal gain is fleeting. When I wake up I know there are people who love me and people I love, instead of waking up in a mansion worrying who might fuck me over today and how I'm gonna fuck them over first so they don't get to.

So while I agree humanity is fucking itself over, I feel sorry for humanity for exactly that reason, because every human has the potential to love, and the world would be a much better place if everyone used that potential.

  9. This love hate crap reminded me about this one scene from Donnie Darko:bongin: Just toked

    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFoJ6XNeKOI]YouTube - Donnie Darko vs. Teacher[/ame]

I think it's a little more complicated than love and hate:smoke:

  10. I love Bill Hicks; listen to him all the time when I'm driving, I believe that line comes from Rant in e minor but I could be wrong

I actually read your entire post and I see things in a very similar way

In reality there are two animals(that I know of) that do rape:eek:

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gUEau5jKIVI&feature=related"]YouTube - Duck being violently raped[/ame]

Dolphins are also pretty messed up, there is a reason the sharks fear the dolphin:D

Other than that I pretty much agree with your views
