Miracle Grow repotting

  1. Well,

Two days ago, I transplanted over a dozen beauties from 6 inch pots to 3&5 gallon pots. They were grown in Fox Farms Ocean-- the transplant soil was about 10% fox farms, 30% miraclgrow organic soil, 40% miracle grow time-release soil and 20% perlite/vermiculite mix.

I'm a first timer, and for some reason I figured that because my (hopefully) gals were getting so big and hearty, I could be less discriminiating (i.e cheap) in my re-potting. I don't what the fu*k I was thinking.

Anyway, within 2 days of re-potting I knew it was the wrong thing to do. Research here confrims that the miracle grow extended nutes can do dreadful things to pot. I've worked too hard to get them this far. So....

I bit the bullet and spent 50 bux on more fox farm, more vermiculite and perlite. I just spent the past two hours re-potting each one of these bad boys. Cleaned them down to the root ball and had to sacrifice a little new root growth to make sure all the extended release crap was gone. They look a little beaten, but I hope that they'll spring back quickly. Any further suggestions??

    Many thanks!

  2. I've left two five gallon pots alone containing the previous soil mix (w/ the extended nutes). I plan to feed these only water, while I continue to feed Bio Bizz ferts to the "re-re-potted" others. I'll post an update to let you know if the evil miracle grow wreaks havok as they say it does....

    Cheers!

  3. This should be a sticky!

And with a name like guano, man! What was going through your mind! hahah.

All's well that ends well, I hope it does. Spend some hours on the boards here and soak up the experience of many lifetimes, and you won't do THAT again!

    ps. is that tin-foil?

  4. Hi -mu,

Thanks for the reply! Yes, it's tin foil...I'm using the dull side...is that bad? - I'm hope to prepare a proper grow room within the next few weeks, but at the moment they're in the garage (the weather's currently nice here) under a 400 watt MH and 4-30 watt 6700K CFLs.

  5. Flat white paint would be better. Mylar better still.

Good luck with the new grow room! Always fun!

  6. DO not add any nutes at all to the re-re-potted plants.
They need some time to bounce back... Give them some time to adapt to the new enviroment then in 1-2 weeks you can start again...:smoking:
