Minutemen

  1. Anybody listen to them? If you watch Jackass, you've heard them. I can't believe that all their music was recorded by 1985. They're fucking incredible.

  2. Great band. Damn shame what happened to their lead singer (might have been another band member.)

You listen to a lot of post-punk stuff like that?

  3. Not really. I just started listening to the Minutemen about a year ago. Would the Misfits w/ Glenn Danzig be post punk?

And yea, it was their lead singer D Boon that died.

  4. Why is nobody else posting in this thread? Is everybody on this music forum crazy? This is without a doubt one of the greatest rock bands America has ever produced. Every one of you, go out and buy a copy of Double Nickels On The Dime right now!

If you didn't already know, George Hurley (drummer) and Mike Watt (bassist) formed another band almost immediately after the disintegration of the Minutemen called fIREHOSE with a guy from Ohio (Ed Crawford) replacing Boon on the geetar and vocals. They were every bit as great as the Minutemen and even had some major-label success in the early-90's, but nobody ever really talks about them.
