Minnesota man who killed teens in break-in charged with murder - U.S. News These stupid teenagers deserved to be shot. I support the castle law, but come on this smith guy took it way too far and he sounds like a fucking lunatic in his description to the cops. Plus he never called the cops and hid the bodies in his basement. Also, who the fuck laughs when they're getting shot and their cousin is laying dead on the floor. Everyone involved in this story is an idiot.
Agreed, they deserved to be shot. He shouldnt be charged with murder and will likely get off if he has a decent laywer. Hes kind of a sick fuck tho lol
Hell yes he should. Shooting them was self defense. Executing them after they were already wounded (and not a threat) was murder.
Jesus what the hell, they deserved to be shot!? You really think that's how it went down? Like you said, who breaks into a house gets shot and tumbles down some stairs then laughs next to their dead friend while someone aims a gun at them. Then this guy hides the bodies and doesn't call the police...That story stinks like maggot shit, and TWO KIDS ARE DEAD. It sounds to me like they broke in (obviously horrible decision) and some crazy old man used it as an excuse to live out a murder fantasy. I feel sorry for an older gentleman having to live alone and in fear of break ins. But not nearly as much as for the parents of those kids. Someone in the article wished he could have just fired a warning shot and/or called the police. Instead two people are dead and one man is looking at jail time. Shitty world we live in
No one deserves to be killed, especially not for something like this. In no way does this qualify as self-defense; that whole "stand your ground law" is a load of bullshit, if you ask me.
So someone comes up to you with a gun or breaks in your house with a gun, and you have a gun and they threaten you or point it at you, you dont have a right to take action and save your life?
Well according to Minnesota law he was allowed to shoot. He just took it too far. https://www.revisor.mn.gov/statutes/?id=609.065 And supposedly this man had been burglarized six times before but only one was reported to police in October where $10,000 worth of stuff was allegedly stolen. The old man didn't have any responsibility to retreat or threaten to call the cops. In MN legally he was allowed to shoot. But he didn't use reasonable force and tried to cover it up by hiding the corpses and not alerting the police, therefore it was murder and he should rot in prison. Also the kids have been linked to another burglary where they stole an old mans diabetes pills. Who the fuck breaks into someone's house to steal diabetes pills? My condolences to the victims' families and I think it is a terrible tragedy. But they were taking a big risk burglarizing people's homes in a state like Minnesota.
That story is sick like seriously wtf in every way possible. But several break ins and he lives in a remote area by himself? Thats fucked. And the laughing part is fucked too, who laughs while theyre about to die and the shooter gets a jammed gun? This aint a comedy movie...wow just wow
He said in the article that he wanted them dead. He killed them in cold blood. As each teen went downstairs, he shot them and they fell down the stairs. He said the girl laughed after his gun jammed, mind you that was after she was shot once. So he shoots her and she falls, he goes to finish her off and his gun jams, and she laughs? Sorry, that sounds like a crock of shit. Anyways, he then fires MULTIPLE rounds into the girls chest. As if her being down isn't good enough. But then he EXECUTES her as she gasps for breath. I'm all for self-defense, but this man did not execute this teens out of self defense.
Shouldnt have broken in. Period. Dont break in and try to rob someones house and not expect to run into a crazy ass guy.
Shoot them in the leg. Tie them up or handcuff them. Call the cops. Wait. Profit. In this case, he could have done that. Not the case in other situations, though.
Certainly. But that's not how it went down in this particular scenario. According to the article, neither teen had any weapon. So how could any of the actions on the man's part be justified? Simply because they broke in? Gimme a break, there are many ways in which one could extinguish a similar situation.
Those are the magic words, "Not a threat." As soon as they are no longer a threat you are outside the law to continue, incapacitate...Don't maim.
So because the law says a man is wrong, that makes him wrong? Guess what, if you break into somebody's house and they kill you... I don't give a fuckin' shit about you.
The word threat can be interpretated in different ways, i agree it was overkill, but still minnesota law says he was aloud to shoot, he could say he saw a weapon, if he truely felt his life was in danger.
So because the law says a man is wrong, that makes him wrong? Guess what, if you break into somebody's house and they kill you... I don't give a fuckin' shit about you.
Agreed, it was your dumb ass that put yourself in the path of a bullet
No appreciation for life, yes they broke in, no one is saying the kids were in the right. But HOW THE HELL DO TWO KIDS DIE AND YOU DON'T CARE!? That old man is still alive, that OLD man who lived a long life is kickin it while two teenagers are dead. Yes they did something incredibly stupid, he could have called the police and possibly gotten those kids in jail. Not exactly a love story but anything is better than just taking their lives. All you have to do is scream that you have a gun and called the cops, jesus ANYTHING. Killing someone shouldn't be the first response.
Unfortunately, we live in a society where most people don't realize that there's an entire world that exists outside of their own menial ego.
