Minimum Height For 250 watt hps

  1. What is the minimum total height i could have for a growbox that has to contain 2 plants in pots sitting on the bottom of the box and a htgsupply 250 hps/mh hood with everything hanging from the ceiling without the light getting too close to the plants?

Is three feet enough. Remember this is the total hight of the box.

  2. Just put your hand over the plants and keep moving the light down until you feel it to be too hot, then move it back up until it is comfortable, theres the lowest height.

  3. the light chart by intensity says that the minimum height is 6" for a 250W HPS.

the hand trick is for heat.

  4. No shit. He didn't specify why exactly he wants to know what the minimum hight can be, it could be a heat related question.

  5. I would say 5 to 6 feet tall for the grow box . 1 foot for pots 3 feet for plants when grown and a foot or so for mountin the light ect hope this helps. If you do lst you may be able to get the overall height down 12 th 18 inches

  6. low cabinet? hps? u need aircooling m8.
git urself a cooltube & u can sit the light almost in the tops.
i use a 600w hps in a 4 1/2 ft drobe & get nice temps with the tube inches off the plants.
don't forget summer is coming & it's going to be a hot one ;)

  7. i stick my 250 watt hps about 18 inches away from the top of the plant. with a oscillating fan, i have no plant burn problems anymore.
