Hey, kind of new here and this is my first post so if I did something wrong, let me know. Alright so my brother is 18 years old and cannabis is legal here for recreational use. Basically my brother went for a smoke and he experienced something strange. After smoking a whole joint (he had very low tolerence) he experienced his heart pumping fast, his organs seemed to tighten up and his whole body started to hurt badly. I must include this, my father had realised this and had the brilliant idea to give him a sleeping pill which I believe was the cause of his stoke, he proceeded to vomit 3 times in a row after taking the pill. Remember his body started to hurt after smoking and his heart started pumping fast after smoking. The tightening of the organs was after the pill. Any idea of what could of happened? Thank you in advance
P.S he though he was dying and this happened a few hours ago and he is fine, but answers would be appreciated.
Thank you for your help, maybe it was some kind of paranoic experience to the extreme which seems to be the case, thanks for your help everyone

  2. It sounded like paranoia at first or normal heart racing with low tolerance....but have you considered he may have a pre-existing heart conditon?

Did he have an actual stroke? Has he spoke to a doctor about that?

  3. This almost always happens to people who barely smoke and over do it or smoke for the first time. He's most likely fine but be careful he may have underlying issues if he's never been checked.

  4. I've had asthma forever and when I marathon smoke or take huge rips that are unnecessary I tighten up too nd have to use my inhaler so anything is possible.

  5. Smoking a whole joint of chronic by yourself = drinking a fifth of 100 proof booze in 5 minutes.
In both cases it's a stupid newbee mistake.
To much cannabis can act almost like to much booze with the spins and dry heaves, puking.
Odds are the sleeping pill didn't have time to dissolve and do anything much at all.
You can't die from cannabis even in really HUGE amounts it'll just make you wish you could die and make it all stop.
Chewing a couple of black pepper corns or sniffing some fresh ground black pepper will take some of the edge off a big dose-to high event. Some CBD oil will do the same but odds are you have pepper in the house.

New users = Take 1 toke and wait 10 minutes to see just how high it got you.

  6. He hasn't spoken to a doctor about it and probably never will, he has asthma but he is very healthy not any heart conditions that I know of but he has been to a doctor about 3 years ago to check that out, thanks for your help never the less, CrookedGammit

  7. I tend to think that what ever happens during smoking are in the majority impressions of the high.

I.e, your heart might beat a little bit faster but if you are high it might seem like it is racing like a madman. Easy solution for this is to take your pulse. Now problem here is that the paranoia can increase your pulse. Body starting to hurt (depending quite a lot how it hurts), could also be the high messing with you if you are a little paranoid. I.e, if you already hurting a bit (bout to get sick) "overdose" could cause you to start focusing on that pain, making it feel like it has increased.

I've had an ex that essentially got a panic attack. She felt like she was having a heart attack, she felt numb (somewhere, can't remember) and she couldn't come down from it. We called an ambulance and they picked her up. They confirmed it was a panic attack.

Some of the things I can feel (none of them are actually physical symptoms) if I high goes "bad":
Heavily increased heart rate (take pulse), heart beating a lot harder (move focus away), pulsing in my ears (move focus), feel like I can't stand straight/swaying (looking in the mirror - you are not), pulse in my belly (feel + move focus).

PS: There has been no recorded fatalities ever due to cannabis overdose. If you keep this in mind you get quite a bit of confidence controlling that OD.

  8. sounds like a rough night. what was the pill in question? and he smoked a regular joint of flower and nothing else? some more runny strains can leave you a racy head high, can get out of control for young smokers.

without more info, just sounds like a weed "o.d.", harmless. if you know what pill he took that would help a little maybe. side effects are the thing with synthetic pharma.

  9. Hes been checked out before for health in general and I forgot to mention that he was a chronic user before he just hadn't smoked in a very long time, but he has asthma maybe this might be the cause? Thanks for your help, CrookedGammit

  10. Well, hes not really a noob he has had chronic experiences with weed before, he just hadn't smoked in a long time, but thank you for the advice and maybe he had really taken to much to smoke on, damn I could of helped him ahaha, but thanks, CrookedGammit

  11. Ok, very refreshing to read makes me calm down abit, but i'm not to fond about the panic attack idea but hes heavily sleeping right now and seems to be alright but next time this happens i'll know abit what to expect but hes a chronic smoker and just hadn't smoked in a long time. If your ex-gf ok? thanks for your help, CrookedGammit

  12. I'm not sure which pill he took but i'm pretty sure it was melatonine ( a natural sleeping remedy) there dosn't seem to be any eye catching side effects but he had a mix of moon beam and pink kush maybe these two mixed together can get extreme experiences? thanks, CrookedGammit

  14. It really fucks with me sometimes when I overdo it and I get very tight in the lungs/chest but the other effects you mentioned sound like the basics for not smoking in a long time or for your first time. Hard to say really, just have to slow the intake down and monitor it

  15. High side pure or nearly pure Sativa or early harvested Indica plants have a high THC to CBD ratio and that can cause an extreme reaction in even experienced uses. CBD helps to temper the effects as to much THC is an uncomfortable stone. I learned the hard way with an early harvested plant that had really intense effects. When I mixed it with some regular weed it was fine but alone it was a wicked mind churning feeling and not much fun at all.

  16. Could have been a panic attack while greening out I have a friend who gets this some times smoking my oil .

  17. I woulda took em in a warm room, put em under the covers, cut the light and had em lay their for 15 min no noise no talking and have em think about a really happy time or nothing at all. That prob would of calmed me down. Panic attacks can b scary hopefully that exp didn’t scare ur fam away from weed.

  18. Smoking weed increases your heart rate. Totally normal and nothing to worry about. I always see people mentioning their heart rate when they post threads about how they got paranoid and had a bad experience with weed. It is absolutely not something to worry about. I think if more people knew this before they smoked they'd be way less prone to getting super paranoid.

My best advice to anyone who is not a very regular smoker is to take it slow and start with low doses. Less is more and if you find it's not you can always smoke more. However you can't unsmoke any lol. There's a very good chance your brother mostly just experienced bad anxiety. If it was just weed I'd be nearly certain of it.

Take it real slow next time, follow all the guidelines you'd take to have a good trip on other substances and everything should be copacetic.

  19. Your brother overdid it big time. And this is common more and more because people do not realize how potent cannabis can be. Your father no offense to him or you, was not brilliant for giving him a sleeping pill. In fact, it perplexes me that he actually thought that, that was even a good idea. Did the Dr. officially state he had a stroke? Because if he did, than he has an underlying problem, i.e a weak heart to begin with (for example)

Tell your brother he needs to slow it down, take a puff or two and wait 20 minutes to see how it goes. I do that when trying new strains I am unfamiliar with. Since Cannabis is legal, I advise him to get a CBD oil pen or flower, and if for some chance he overdid it, he can take a few puffs and the CBD will ease the THC and balance things out.

Cannabis while it may be legal should be used responsibly, and when you are in a good enviroment. When you get a headache do you normally pop 20 asprin? Nope..well same rule should apply (in a sense, ok that was a shitty example but w/e lol)

  20. I doubt you had a stroke from smoking weed lol

Most people who have stroke become basically disabled after having one.. not many people have strokes & are the same again.
