Mini HP Aero + CMH

Discussion in 'Hydroponic Grow Journals' started by dunny, Dec 18, 2010.

  1. Hello world!

    My first post/thread/journal.

I'm posting this primarily as a way to document this grow. Not a max/min type setup, just trying a couple things for fun on the side using spare gear/space. And who doesn't appreciate a few extra nugs? When I'm not feeling so lazy, I'll build another set so I can run actual experiments with a control. Maybe. Lol.

Feel free to comment but don't expect too much from me response-wise. Most suggestions and questions will go ignored, so you've been warned. Not trying to be a jerk, I'm just usually too busy/burned out due to real life, sorry. I don't plan on being involved much beyond posting updates. For what it's worth, enjoy! :smoke:

Some bud sites at day 11

Not sure when they first started showing up, they just happened to be there when I looked on this day.

  4. Some more updated pictures. Not much other than bud sites starting to fill in. I think these were taken day 16.

    canopy is super uneven :/

Hopefully the girls are done stretching, may have to raise light finally -_-

One of the girls that's behind. Can't be sure if it due to the strain or due to it growing in the shade of the others. Most likely the latter.

  5. A little more insight into this grow:

I wanted to see how things would turn out if I put as little effort into this as possible. This means not changing the height of the lamp, no training or pruning, and best of all, not touching the res. The box drains so little, I have yet to empty out the 5 gallon it's been draining into, and at this rate, I might not need to empty it until harvest! I'm also planning to use the exact same nute mix/strength and feed schedule (blasphemy! lol.)

A lot of this goes against the established consensus, but I've never been one to follow and that's the whole point of this grow. If and when things start to turn south, I'll change things but thus far, beyond the few hours spent the first day putting everything together, I have yet to do anything more than take pictures.

Some may be wondering, how much better or further along this grow could it be if I actually tended to things or why I wouldn't do this or that, but honestly, how can you tell if there's any difference without having a side by side with a proper control to compare to? What's the point of messing with things that if you don't have any definitive proof of it making things better/worse outside of anecdotal evidence or your personal perception?

For this grow, I plan to be a mostly absentee grower. And if it works, I'll do a side by side to see how much better/worse it is compared to a garden I actually tend.

Pulled a few nugs over two ounces dry after trimming. This one little box used probably less than half the area covered by the light.

I used 500ppm and a one part nute from beginning to end with no problems and fantastic buds.

  7. Looking lovely...might have missed it, but any idea on genetics here?

  8. I think this particular box had soma sour d and cc corleone kush.

a quick peep at my other hp set up.

depending on strain i get 3-5 oz per tote. total footprint is 2'x4.' dtw on same feed schedule as listed above. pll for lighting all the way through. lots of improvements that need to be made but been lazy since its still producing relatively well.

this is nuts , why hasnt anyone commented on this?

    Couple questions

    how tall is that shelf?

    is this a perpetual harvest?

  11. its 6' tall. its modular and i run the same solution and strength all the way through so it can be.

  12. thats pretty fuckin incredible. subbed.

  13. Anyone want to see part 2 of this? This time 6 plants in hp aero buckets, 250w cmh vert. Might move forums if no one interested.

  14. flipped today

  17. This is pretty awesome. What is the solution you use made of? How long are the sprayers on for? +rep

  18. i run the same solution at .5 ec from clone to harvest. zero additives. npk depends on my light source.
    HID: 3-1-2
    fluoro: 2-1-3

spray times depends on the system, age of plant, and what i'm trying to achieve, but generally i start with the following times:

clone to week 1 vege: 1s//5min
    flower: .5s//10min

  19. great timing of the post btw, i can only imagine what you did after posting ;)

  20. What timer do you have? I built an aero system but need a timer.
