does anyone put a glass cover over thier plants during the early stages, such as a small glass or jar over each palnt to create a small greenhouse to trap moisture? is there at all any advantages to doing this?
Some say yes, some say no. Try it on a plant and compare the differences with one that you don't. It would be a nice little experiment. Post the results.
I've put little plastic-baggie hoods over my sprouts before. It works alright. You have to give 'em air though, like poke a small hole in the baggie and also take the bag off once a day. Just to prevent too much moisture. But otherwise it works well to keep the soil and fragile sprout from drying up.
