What if the goverment, at least in the US, is made up of people? normal every day people who aren't out to screw over the avarage person? I mean, without a doubt corporations and lobbysts hold crazy amounts of leverage in our society, but maybe our goverment just isn't as corrupt as you think

Think about it. Regardless of a goverment's true intentions, a successful politician can NOT go screwing the majority. To them, it's a popularity contest. they are all ego-driven and since their success is based on how well things are running in the country, they HAVE to try to make us look good or else their own ego's look bad.
Do you think the US goverment WANTS to be in horriffic amounts of debt? do you think politicians want to be asked questions about why nobody has jobs? NO it's depressing and it makes them look like bad leaders since the country is in a pile of shit.

if they could have a country with a booming economy and happy people, they would be happy. To be able to say Look I created the happiest society, the most prosperous country on the planet. Thats what they want, because when people are happy they tend to give the goverment MORE power to keep making them happy. history has shown this trend.
Im sure there are a few people who want to watch the country burn if it only means they will be a few dollars richer, but as a whole I think
'The Man" isn't as bad as we all crack him up to be
