K so my lawyer is basically trying to make me choose between joining the national guard with no criminal record or possibly having to pay a fine and have a misdemeanor on my record forever. This is his little idea and I don't like it but he's really pressing it. He's trying to get me to make a decision by Tuesday which is my court date.
A misdemeanor would suck, my friend did everything he could to clear his record with he got a DUI and got a misdemeanor. But he was given the option to clean-up the city every weekend and go to group counseling...not join the national guard. He said even though that time in his life sucked, he is glad he has a clean record, I probably would joint the National Guard, up to you though man...
Receiving stolen goods
owned. but just take it. fuck the military... what kinda option is that?!? lol
i think the ultimate thing is when all is said and done, you wont have a "criminal record". which is how they present it to you. ask about the facts. you will get "deffered adjudication". which means after your 1-2 years supervision your charges will be dismissed. you will ALWAYS have a record of your arrest. this never goes away. this is what the police find out when they type your drivers licence number. however, your record will still end up saying that the charges were "dismissed".
1-2 years supervision? Where did this come from? OP said he would have to pay a fine and have a record if he didn't join the NG.
Join the national guard. You probally wont even end up going to war or anything. And you get paid to be in it.
Not a clean record...or signing years of your life away to a government who doesn't give a fuck about you? Sounds like an easy choice to me.
the court is not going to just let the guy get off completly, even if he goes into the military. but even if they do. his record is always going to show that he has an arrest. when they say he wont have a "record". they mean a record of having a convicton on his "record". i learned this the first time i got defered
Maybe get a new lawyer? lol, And I dunno I think I would choose the crimminal record instead of joining the military, unless joining the gaurd was something you wanted to do. But see if you can fight this case better and not get such harsh punishment.
