What are your guy's thoughts on this? I think (after listening to the teaser for their new album) that it's given a new fresh feel to their sound but I'll always love Portnoy's DT sound. However, I was getting a bit annoyed that he wasn't coming up with 'new' drum tracks, sort of just taking all of his other tracks and mish-mashing them together. BUT who can blame him, he has played with the same band for 25 years I think it was a good thing for Dream Theater, but the drums will always seem 'strange' to me from now on. PS: I'm a drummer too
Mike Portnoy was more than half of the reason for listening to Dream Theater, at least for me. It just doesn't feel like the same band without him.
