MFLB versus Arizer Solo

Discussion in 'Vaporizers' started by themtharhillzzz, Oct 5, 2011.

  1. I am interested to purchase one of the two portable vapes. I already have a Da Buddha home vape so please don't suggest any other at home vapes!

I am honestly torn in two trying to decide which vape to buy, the mflb sounds like such a solid product with such a massive group of devote supporters while the Arizer is a relatively brand new product but it seems to be very simple and deliver a little more thicker hits? The mflb sounds like a total bitch to charge the batteries and to always have extra ones on you, but it is such a tried and true product and the price point is quite a bit less than the Arizer.

Any response would be great and I am very interested in also hearing the opinion of the GC community, thanks! :gc_rocks::smoke:

  2. I am pretty sure there was some kind of flaw that was found in the solo. I dont have one and may be wrong. The mflb is tested but the batteries are a bitch

  3. MFLB. Batteries are easy...just throw em in the charger once and a while. It's really not as hard or as much of a nuisance as people make it out to be ;)

The thing does the trick, and you've got it backed by the best warrantee in the business—for good reason.

  4. Thanks for the replies maybe I just have really lazy friends hahaha,
    And bumpity bump bump

  5. You should read reviews on fuckcombustion.com for info on the airizer. The problem was with the finish rusting/flaking by the bowl (I believe it was by the bowl...) but they have since fixed the problem from what I've heard. I haven't used the solo, but I would say its a better vape overall. Having multiple temp settings and a constant temp will make it much easier to use, and a bit more versatile. If you have the funds I would get the solo over the MFLB, however, if used properly the MFLB is a great vape, but it is hard to share because people have to learn, and the batteries wont last for several people. But...it is also tiny, and easy to carry around in your pocket or just about anywhere. So, the only reason I would really choose the MFLB over the solo is if I wanted something extremely portable, as in I can use it in public with no problem. I have only heard good things about the solo, except for that one issue with the finish.

Better late than never. This thread is a few days old, but I'm going to reply anyway. I just resolved the very same decision. I went with the Solo. I struggled with the price differential, but here was my solution. Everyone is having sales on the Solo right now, and I found this deal. For a little over $150 compared to the cost of the MFLB, I went with the Solo. If you read reviews, nobody is having much of anything bad to say about the Solo and when anyone compares the 2, the Solo comes out on top for producing what we are after. I like the 4 hour battery. I trust the SS case more than the wood. I like the looks of the Solo. I don't need total stealth which the MFLB has. The operation and the look of the Solo is less crude. You hit the button to turn it on, and when the lights show you it's ready, you hit it. With the MFLB, you are pushing/pulling batteries for some floating amount of time depending on how hard you suck and the batteries don't last all that long. And don't forget to check in the hole to see if the light is lit so you know your battery is in far enough. I've used the MFLB before, and I really like it, so when my Solo gets here, maybe I'll post my thoughts on the +-'s of the 2. I still feel that the MFLB is pretty hard to beat for value, but with the sale prices, I was willing to spend just a little more to get the Solo.

  7. I choose the MFLB out of a desire for more stealth than the Solo (still looks like a smoking contraption). I've since grown to love it for it's amazing effeciency and versatility.

The Solo is a good product. I have an Extreme Q in my Master Bathroom right now (made by the same manufacturer as the Solo); it's my current "go-to."

...BUT, I'm chillin' on my bed right now, watching football with my iPad on my lap, hitting my MFLB!

    That says a lot!

  8. I know the thread is a little old, but I'm in the same exact spot. I can't pick between the two. What'd you think of yours when you got it? Do u like it more than the mflb?

  9. I've had the Solo for a few days now, and it's money well spent. Compared to the MFLB, I've got better and much more consistant vapor. It's about as easy to use as you can get. I do not know how long the battery lasts because when not in use, it's plugged in. Admittedly it's a lot larger than the mflb, but I can still wrap my hand around it and cover the entire unit. The only thing sitting above my hand is the tube I'm sucking on. As I've stated before, the mflb is pretty great for what it is. I wanted to step up to something a bit better and the Solo has delivered in spades. The vapor is pretty close to being as good as something like a SSV or a EQ. It's quiet, the battery life has been no problem, it gives me good, consistant vapor and overall I couldn't be happier. By the way, it's the silver that everyone thinks is unavailable right now.

I've got both - I must say, it really is the best of both worlds to have both, and they are really tough to compare as both have their purposes.

I use the MFLB when I'm in a theatre, outside at a restaurant, riding passenger on a really long drive, etc, etc. But at home, the Solo is my goto vape. It hits very similarly to the SSV I had, and it's "portable" enough for me to take when I take weekend trips down south from SF to LA to stay with my folks. It definitely doesn't have the stealth that the MFLB has, but when it comes to portability, the Solo wins IMO. The 4 hour batt means I can walk around the house, sit on the couch, move upstairs to the computer room, mosey on to the kitchen, all while puffing on the Solo. On the MFLB, I'd have to be pushing/pulling batteries, pushing/pulling rubber caps off to mark which batt has been spent and which still has charge, shaking the unit each hit, peering in the little hole looking for the orange light to gauge how much batt is left, etc.

Don't get me wrong, I love the MFLB as it's great for small stealthy hits in public. But for anyone cross shopping the two, I'd get a Solo first, and use a DIY tincture when you really need stealth and discreet medicating. Save up for an MFLB, it can follow soon after since it is much cheaper than the Solo. :) The Solo can stand alone as a daily vape - the MFLB is best suited as a supplemental/weekend/outdoor vape, imo.

  11. MFLB VS Solo

Price: MFLB is the winner @ $120. The Solo can be found anywhere from $150-$300 depending on which seller or retailer you go through

Power Source:The Solo is the winner, with its rechargeable Li battery. You don't need to worry about charging batteries or losing batteries..or batteries discharging and etc.

Concealability: MFLB wins because its small enough to fit in a closed palm. The Solo is about the size of a can of redbull and with the glass stem its a little more awkward to conceal.

Vapor/Consistent Delivery: The Solo is the winner, the vapor path is more pure and the temperature of the heating element stays at the selected setting(1-7) meaning your hits will all be delivered at similar temps. The MFLB is a Variable temp vaporizer meaning..you don't necessarily know what temp your vaporizing at..just that your heating the herb enough to produce vapors. Also the wood adds a hint of flavor to the vapor.

Party situations:The Solo is the winner, with separate stems it should be easy to get multiple people going, where as with the MFLB it would take a couple batteries and a lot of shaking and trench filling and etc.

Warranty:The MFLB is the winner, the only vaporizer that i know of that has a LIFETIME warranty that covers a variety of mishaps..even if its through user error. The Solo has a very limited warranty and after that you have to fork out your own cash.

Learning Curve:The Solo, you will be able to produce vapor successfully on your first try. MFLB takes some practice but once you figure out how everything flows you will be puffing clouds shortly.

Vaporizers aren't really better than one another, they just cater to different needs. And all desire their own little niche in the market.

Hopefully this will help in your final decision.

    Good Luck.

  12. The solo had a bad batch, that was about it, id get the solo extreme q or da buddha.

  13. I've had my Solo a couple of weeks. Gotta say I'm underwhelmed. I thought it would be my go to. My Woodeez keeps that title.

    Love my MFLB!

  14. I've had my Solo a couple of weeks. Gotta say I'm underwhelmed. I thought it would be my go to. My Woodeez keeps that title.

    Love my MFLB!

  15. I went for the MFLBand I love it, it is so damn small and I really love the stealthiness of it. With the power cord it hits like a dream! I love it!

  16. I own, & use BOTH the MFLB & the SOLO, you should be happy with either decision, as both are fantastic vaporizers! I personally like havin both, because each serves their own purpose.

My solo delivers rich thick vapor rips every time. It's flavor is amazing & I like the variable temperature settings. I purchased a wooden stem for "on the go," but still find it more convienant to travel with my MFLB.

"Da BOX," as I affectionately call her, is as stealth as any vape I've come across. It creates little or no smell, and can be used one hit at a time, making it the perfect portable. The batteries can get annoying, but there is an optional power adapter & car adapter which negates this con. It's also nice to know you can always purchase new batteries at the local convienance store, although you'll pay more than online. The MFLB is unsurpassable, I've personally made use of the warranty twice, each time being sent a brand new box in a very short amount of time. Magic Flight stands behind their promises.

6 of one, 1/2 dozen of another...you really can't go wrong with either one, IMO. Love em both, won't part with either....together they are quite the dynamic duo.

  17. I prefer the MFLB. Love the Solo too but MFLB is the one I tend to use when I am on the go.

  18. Although this thread is many months old, I have a good suggestion if someone wanted to conceal the Arizer Solo; Simply put it in an appropriate size cup (i.e. McDonalds cup) and vape discreetly. The tube might look awkward, but at a first glance no one will think twice.

  19. That's like comparing the Saturn V rocket to a Cessna.

  20. You can't go wrong with either but the solo will give bigger rips but both will get the job done.
