Mercury Vapor lights?

  1. i was browsing home depots website recently and come across a 175watt mercury vapor light, i was wondering if anyone knew if these lights would be efficient for growing or not? thanks

  2. They can.

but would be a waste because you can easily buy a MH or HPS that would grow 100 times better.

Mercury vapor lamps were the very first grow lights.

They didnt last long and used tons of power for the amount of light they put out.

I learned that in Indoor Growing Bible by Mr. Cervantes :D

  3. Basically, mecury vapor lamps are like a shitty version of metal halide. Don't bother with them.

  4. Appartently if you match your MV to a MH bulb it will work

So I read that you can put a MH bulb in a MV Ballast and it will work but just go get a 400W HPS from insidesun.com, cheapest outthere
