I am currently interested in moving to california. I was wondering if anybody knows the policies on employers in the state if they have any issues with medicinal patients and drug testing for thc? Thank you.
Posted this in another thread. Hope someone can shed some light.
Employers dont care if you have a medical card you still have to test negative ........... Although you can drink everyday and come to work half drunk / hungover / call in sick or leave early cause of alcohol ............. They don't have a problem with alcohol but don't smoke weed it's bad mmmmkay
Zero protection for MMJ users. Arnie had a bill on his desk that would have given us some protection, but he refused to sign it- the hypocrite! Granny
In a "right to hire" state, you can be denied employment for anything. If your employer decides that he doesn't want tobacco smokers working for him, he can order all of his employees to get urine screens checking for nicotine. Which is getting more common amongst private hospital employees, by the way. Once cannabis is recognized as the medicine that it is, then your use of prescription medicine would be protected under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). But right now, it's easier to find employment with legally prescribed Oxycontin than quasi-legal medical marijuana.
there is no protection from employers...it is the employers right to hire the most qualified individual for the job. Maybe in certain jobs marijuana patient will have no luck at all, like a truck driver or a fork lift operator...need to be sober at all times.
