Medical Marijuana in Ohio

Discussion in 'Medical Cannabis: Treatments & Patient Experiences' started by Da_Trevinator, Mar 4, 2010.

  1. I hope it happens I've been waiting for this.

  2. I know, it seems like there's a lot of acceptance towards the issue. However, Ohio is notoriously a very liberal state and I give it a very small chance of passing.

  3. I can only hope that this passes!!!!!!!! :smoke::smoke:

  4. Hope ain't goin' to cut it, kiddo! Get your arse in gear and start WORKING for legalization! :hello:

    1) If you are not registered to vote- DO IT!

    2) Bookmark the emails and addresses of your politicians and be persistent in writing to them! (see #3)

    3) Get a copy of my list (linked in my sig) and use it in those letters! All you have to do is write "This is why I support medical marijuana", then grab something from my list like "Marijuana Slows Alzheimer's Decline" and use it as the body of your letter. "Sincerely ____ , a registered voter" Couple minutes of work! :p Try doing it once a week until elections this fall!

If all of GC would do that much, we'd be seeing medical cannabis in Ohio and a lot of other states this year!

    Granny

  5. I grew up and went to college in northeastern Ohio, so I've got my fingers crossed for all of you guys there.

That being said, hate to be negative, but they can't even get slot machines to pass there, so MMJ is probably a no go.

    :(

  6. oh my i can only hope..with michigan doin it, and some other states actually doing it might have a chance...im hopin and prayin right now

  7. what are you talking about? casinos passed... they just arent going into effect yet. and idk how this would be harder if its liberal, we already have decrim... (half way there) MMJ should easily be passed next id say...

Anyone know which bill this is? From what I can find out it sounds like HB 2835, the Medical Marijuana Patient Protection Act, but I'm having trouble finding any info on it.

Could also be SB 343, the Ohio Medical Compassion Act for Medicinal Marijuana, I'm not sure what happened with that one.

  9. yeah i cant find it either...did anyone watch that video? you might be able to get the bud MAILED to you..

  10. I'm hopin this will pass... god knows that this state never wants to try something new though...

Hell yeah! if HB 478 passes we'd get some interesting provisions.

Here's a summary, full listings are at the bottom:

Qualifying patients must have a debilitating medical condition, defined as:
Cancer; glaucoma; positive status for human immunodeficiency virus; acquired immune deficiency syndrome; hepatitis C; amyotrophic lateral sclerosis; Crohn's disease; agitation of Alzheimer's disease; nail patella; multiple sclerosis; injury or disease to the spinal cord, spinal column, or vertebra; mylomalacia; celiac disease; sickle cell anemia; or the treatment of these conditions

Anyone can submit a petition to have new debilitating conditions added.

People who can give you a written certification for medical cannabis:
dentist, clinical nurse specialist, certified nurse-midwife, certified nurse practitioner, optometrist, physician of medicine and surgery, osteopathic medicine, podiatrist, physician's assistant

Registered patients or caregivers may only grow at (no more than two) registered locations, which must be enclosed, kept locked and out of public view. But, you can transport and move plants if needed.

Limit is 200 grams (~7.06 oz) of usable cannabis and 12 plants that have been sexed and have started flowering. Any other plants are not counted.

Can't do anything dangerous while smoking, can't smoke in public, on a bus, in schools (does't mention colleges & universities), or in prison.

Caregivers must be 21 or older, and may be paid for their services.

Employers, schools, and landlord may not discriminate against registered patients solely due to medical use of cannabis, unless failing to do so would violate federal law.

Insurers do not have to cover medical cannabis.
While employers can't discriminate against patients, they do not have to permit cannabis useage, and can discipline for working while impaired. Impaired can't solely be judged due to THC levels from a drug test.

If passed, it must be enacted in less than 120 days.
Any person may petition for a medical condition to be approved for use.

    :hello::wave::smoke:

Here are the references to the bill for the above:

    But also some bad:

If passed, it must be enacted in less than 120 days.

Also bad, registered patients or caregivers may only grow at (no more than two) registered locations, which must be enclosed, kept locked and out of public view. But, you can transport and move plants if needed.

Limit is 200 grams of usable cannabis and 12 plants that have been sexed and have started flowering.

I see no mention of dispensaries or collectives, anyone else find anything on it?

  12. It looks like you're free to have as many male plants as you want, as many plants that haven't shown sex as you want, as much leaf trim as you want, and 200g of any form of "usable cannabis". Sounds like hash or oils would be the way to go if you're trying to maximize the length of time your cannabis will last.

When weighing edibles, only the amount of actual usable cannabis in the edibles counts towards the weight.

  13. im feelin good about this all of sudden! maybe ohio will do somethin for once. we just passed gambling which i thought would never happen so i think this should pass!! get out there and let people know the truth and tell ur reps.:hello:

  14. What is a caregiver?

And for the 200 grams thing, does that mean that you can only get 200 grams with your card? Then you need a new one, or is it 200 grams at one time.

  15. I'm praying :p

My dad wants his own license for a dispensary in Ohio if it gets passed O_O

I live in Ohio, I hope this passes.

..but this is the 10th time this has happened.

    regardless, I'll do my part.

  17. AKA Someone to grow for people who don't want to, or can't grow for themselves.

It would be 200g (~7oz) at any one time, that is the max you can have. The card would be good for a year before requiring renewal.
