Medical Marijuana in Canada?

Discussion in 'Medical Marijuana Usage and Applications' started by JyZE, Apr 20, 2009.

  1. Hi i live in Toronto, Ontario, im wondering if there are any other fellow canadians that has had a medical marijuana license, and i am wondering how to get one, also tell me how do you get the weed? is there a special place, like a dispensary ?

  2. I don't have a license, but I can tell you that you have to go through a bunch of hoops to get one. Needless to say, Canadian doctors don't hand them out like they do down in SoCal. In fact, Health Canada doesn't see the medical value in dope and doesn't recommend that doctors prescribe it.

The process to get one is a pain in the ass, especially if you don't have cancer or AIDS or any other terminal illness. You can Google the process too (find a Health Canada page). If you do manage to get one, you could go to the Toronto Compassion Centre (Google it) and grab your weed there.

I'm assuming you don't have a terminal illness and if this is the case, you really are much better off finding a reliable connection. After all, you live in Toronto, man! You don't have to look very hard to find weed and if you do a bit of searching, you're bound to find a good connect.

    Good luck.

  3. yea in canada since our healthcare is completely public, the docters all work for the goverment and i heard they really frown upon giving out prescriptions for it.

i met a guy in cuba who had been blazing his entire life and was diagnosed with terminal cancer and he said he tried 5 different docters and he couldnt manage to get one. lol he says he still blazes illegally and it helps him more then the 7 different types of meds he was previously taking

  4. Thanks both of you guys! lol i still wish i had a source that had a variety of different buds, who knows, i might even move to cali or amsterdam :D

  5. Hey Ganjaman, I am a licensed user in Canada not too far from Toronto. Although a timely process the process works very well for those who have pain, nausea, which fall into many medical conditions other than termainal illness. I have Fibro Myalgia and had my license after my first attemp. Now I made it sound too easy but the most important prerequeset is that you are being treated or are diagnosed with a condition that rquires daily meds to control your pain. If you are already on CPP your license is very quick.

More good news, Contact me for a list of places you can get your supplies within Canada, legally. Well at least initially. I am licensed to grow and if you require a grower I can grow for you when your license is given. I will help you with what you need to get your license but only if you have a chance at getting one. You must be sick.....Sad statement, but true.

You do not have to live in pain.

  8. Hey beowulf, that was a great explanation you posted there, im wondering if i can get my father a license, hes old, and has almost all the symptoms, that marijuana can help, such as severe cramps, permanent knee injury and cant walk properly, diabetes, cataract is starting in one of the eyes, now im wondering, if i was to go to the doctor and tell them all of these symptoms and more, that we might actually be lucky enough to get a license?
    thanks

  9. bump i still need advice

  10. Hey JyZE,

I'm not sure what it is I can help you with without you being more specfic. The one thing that I should make clear is that there are many reasons to use pot for medical purposes, but most include some sort of unmanagable pain. Canada is very liberal when there is adquaite medical history to draw from. History is the key to their matrix. The more established history of pain you have the more sympathetic they are.

If there is something more you wish help with please be specfic.

    Cheers,

  11. mm i see, well, my father has been having pain for about 10-14 years now because of a knee injury, and can barely move it same with the cramps, and diabetes since forever lol.

I dont know how specific, unless i had a name or something, im pretty sure he doesnt have multiple sclerosis though, however im feeling that he has symptoms of fibromalygia, such as debilitating fatigue, sleep disturbance, and joint stiffness, and serious memory problems,

ive seen use of Lyrica(pregballin) and januvia, im pretty sure marijuana can help replace or help that.

  12. For some straight answers, I suggest that you go over to Treating Yourself a nice little CANADIAN site, where they will be able to answer your questions better. And check out the on-line back issues of their magazine- it's the only cannabis magazine I subscribe to!

  13. Thanks Granny, your right on with the site. I have used it myself many time and send a lot of people there. :hello:

Please pardon my spelling, in the middle of a flare -up...

JyZE - It's oblivious that your father is in pain, the use of MM to help should be very easy if there is a documented history, like the one his Doctor should have. Its a hard request from some of the older professionals but not so with the younger ones, 50 and under. You should first ask your father if he approves of this type of treatment. My father was on it in his fifties and although he approved of it when he was needing it, he quickly changed his mind once he didn't.

If he is suffering and needs more help then he should advocate this with his Doctor first, to get a referral to a pain specialist. The pain specialist will be the fastest route to ease his suffering. It is quite probable your father should have no problem asking for cesamet (synthetic THC); once they see he has already been on Lyrica. the next step is the pot itself so with a little diligence and proactive determination your Father could be growing in less than 6 months. Its possible....That is the only real substance here as I am not a Doctor and can only respond with my present and past experience and highly recommend you follow the link to: Medical Marijuana Patient Forums - Powered by vBulletin
Its great reading and you are obviously needing and wanting to be educated.
Good luck with your father, and I trust with your help he will be on a better less painful road soon.
    Cheers,
