medical marijuana has changed my life!

Discussion in 'Medical Marijuana Usage and Applications' started by jazzyteach65, Oct 10, 2010.

  1. I'd just likje to briefly share my story: 10 months ago, I tore my left rotator. I am a music teacher, and the injury devestated me. Ten months, three orthopedic specialists, one chiropractor, sixe weeks of physical therpay and four injections later, the insurance got canceled, the MRI revealed that I needed more treatment and therpay. I dn't have that kind of money, and am afriad of trying to heal it on my own. The last thing the doctor offered was prescription pain pills. I told him "no," and dealt with three more months of pain. Then I found out about the local medical marijuana program, and since the quality of life has gone up! Even though I still can't teach or play music, at least I am not wincing in pain all the time. It has made me less anxious of saving up for paying out of pocket for an operation if needed

  2. glad to hear it, man. Try playing around with methods of ingestion a bit to find what works best for you. If you haven't already done so i'd recommend checking out a cannabis salve that can be applied directly to the skin.

Also, take a trip over to Grannystormcrow's List of links regaurding the medical efficacy of cannabis. I'm sure you'll find some information that interests you very much.

Welcome to the GC community, hope you stay a while.

  3. Hi hon, The list that the previous poster referred to is linked below in my sig. Just click the first link. I think you will find it very interesting. Incidentally, cannabis is effective on post-operative pain-

Also, my hubby suffers from chronic neuropathic pain (it's harder to treat than many other types of pain) and he gets MUCH better pain relief from edibles and tinctures than he does from either smoking or vaporizing. There are recipes for edibles in the section of my list "Methods of Use - Edibles", and instructions on how to make your own tinctures just a little further down in "Methods of use - Tinctures" (it's very easy to do!)

Vaporizing is much healthier than smoking. Check my list for "Methods of Use - Vaporizers" for more info on why you need to get a vaporizer. :)

You may want to consider growing- WAY cheaper than buying off the street. CFLs will work as a light source. My "very well-lit closet" keeps us supplied for about $25 a month (mostly for electricity).

    Granny

  4. WOW! The next thing on my list is to grow it. I just need to learn how, and with what equipment

  5. Wow! Thanks man!

  6. glad to hear it...stay optimistic and live life to the fullest degree ! :hello:

  7. I was tired of getting droned out on prescriptions for a knee injury. Recently I got my doctors reccomendation for medical marijuana and it has helped me sooo much! My pain is gone and I can even walk my dog around the block again. Why didnt my doctor give me this choice sooner?

Anyway, I am thankful that I have found my natural meds.

  8. *high five*

jazzhead here, more bebop than anything though.
I smoke before playing sometimes and to relax.

  9. I could never do that. Marijuana and improvisation is different. I thought it would help me explore upper structure tones, and new musical colors, but I can't play-the shoulder is torn. When I smoke it, I get confused with music.

  10. You can't explore what you can't hear. Sometimes it comes more naturally to others.

Miles Davis worked so well with John Coltrane because they both liked to play in the lower registers. Dizzy Gillespie on the other hand loves to go high... He explains this a bit in his autobiography.

  11. I do pre-hear musically, as do all human beings do. However, when high, I can't play the lines I hear as there is some kind of disconnect.

Miles worked well with Trane for countless reasons. They also played contrasting registers at different times in thier work together and in different situations

  12. haha, good! cause I can't :p
It's awesome to see someone else is as interested in Jazz as I am though :)

I think they worked really well together because Miles is a Gemini and Trane is a Libra. Just like... what were their names? oh! john lennon and that other dude, paul mcartney? haha

Speaking of contrasting sound, I think Dave Brubeck and Paul Desmond take it with "Take Five" :p ... great track, love the time sig

  13. I hear you: tore out both shoulders a few years back. One BIG question: why are you not seeking a surgical answer ? There is no 'cure' or treatment for a torn RC, only surgery can repair the damage.
