    Is it true when you get your card in california it gets mailed to your address?

    No. They give it to you that day when you get recommended from the Doc.

    You dont get a card unless you pay an extra fee. The card itself is useless however.

    The recommendation is what is important. You will get that on the same day. Probably depends on your state though

    Wrong. I got my ID card for free. And the recommendation(paper) is what most clubs want to see your first time there but after that your good.
