Medical marijuana card? I had a stroke, and need help with info. Oregon

Discussion in 'Medical Marijuana Usage and Applications' started by Oregoniannewbie, Sep 14, 2015.

  1. I hope anyone could help with some information. I had a stroke 4/5 years ago so when I research stuff I get really confused etc. I am thinking of getting my Oregon marijuana card "OMMP", if I can get one. I don't know if I will be able to get one. I don't really know what process I need to do. I use a regular doctor, but I know he is not a fan of marijuana. I could do the application , but do i see a marijuana doctor first? Will he tell me if i will get the card. I don't see any thing about being a stroke victim as a reason to get a card. I have depression and anxiety. I take pills that don't help. I also have diabetes, and feet do hurt sometime, but nothing serious. I have asthma "I'm sure that wouldn't help". I just don't want to spend a couple hundred of dollars, and then tell me I don't apply. I really don't know what I need to do. I have seen https://public.health.oregon.gov/DiseasesCondition... Thanks for any info .

Hon, cannabis is legal for recreational use in Oregon! You just have to be patient a bit longer to buy it- starting next month (October 1), you can just walk into any dispensary and buy it without going through all the hoop-jumping and expense to get a rec! Here's a little info for you-

And this was kind of cute- [IMG]

By the way, I'm "Granny Storm Crow" and I read more medical studies than most doctors. I would suggest that you get a "high CBD" strain- the budtender will know what strains have CBD in them. . These articles will explain why you need CBD-

CBD also helps to prevent and heal damage from strokes

As for asthma, any smoke will irritate your lungs! However, there are machines called vaporizers that deliver the cannabinoids by gently heating them (keeping them below combustion temperatures). I have an old-fashioned "Vapor Brother's Hand-free", but there are many good kinds out there. (Just avoid those "el cheapo" $50 Chinese knock-offs. There have been reports of increased chemical sensitivity and lung problems from using them.)

My hubby had severe asthma as a child, and when he smokes too much, it can act up. If we just vape, he never has a problem! It has been known for quite a while that THC is actually a bronchodilator.

    Hope that helps!

  3. Thanks for the info. I will be using the dispensary's Oct 1, but when they have the recreational shops ready, we will have to go there and pay the higher taxed prices. I was hoping to just get my card so I don't have to get accustom to paying low prices then have to buy expensive marijuana. Thanks again for the links I'm checking them out now.

  4. If you ask at your local dispensaries, they usually will know of a doctor that will work with you in getting your med card. The lower prices help a lot if you are on a budget. That's how I found my doc. Kind of a freaky profile pic there Oregoniannewbie! Ha!

  5. Thanks, I hope they all are gonna be nice to the recreational users. Can't wait for 17 more days to go in the the dispensaries "but who's counting" :) . Thanks for the suggestions guys.
