Medical Marijuana and ADD

Discussion in 'Medical Marijuana Usage and Applications' started by dowardyang, Jan 26, 2011.

  1. I am currently a patient using medical marijuana for back pain but was wondering if it could help my ADD. I have not been diagnosed by a doctor but I feel that I may have Adult ADD. I have a really hard time focusing and sitting still and also have a good amount of mood swings. This has really started to affect my school work and I was wondering if cannabis could help me with this situation. I have read articles and such saying that ADD can be helped by marijuana but was wondering if any of you guys that have ADD or just have a hard time focusing in general use cannabis to help you. Also, would sativa or indica strains be more helpful in helping me focus? Thanks Everyone!

  2. Cannabis is great for ADD, helps you focus in on specific tasks.

  3. sativa dominant strains could possibly help, so idk if maybe you grinded up some sativa with your back pain stuff?

but remember that too much could make you worse. so idk.
if you have access then just try some strains they say at your dispensary might help and experiment.

  4. I know sativa strains are supposed to work better for ADD, but I haven't tried it. I've tried an indica, which really relaxes you and clears your mind. That's just what works for me though. I have minor anxiety that makes me want to rush through things (including reading), but I am able to read patiently when I smoke. I would probably try a sativa first though. There's a sticky on top of this forum with a list of strains for ADD. Good luck.

Now start reading! You got no excuse not to educate yourself! And there is a strain called ADHD, which, I suppose, was specifically bred to handle the condition. Got no idea where to get it, though. Ask at the local dispensary.

I work in education and have personally seen it work wonders with a certain 7th grader who was classic ADHD. Wiggly, couldn't keep his mind on things, rarely finished an assignment- he was failing badly! He started showing up reeking of cannabis a few days a week. His work improved and he passed 7th grade by the skin of his teeth!

I suggested to one of his friends that the kid "change his cologne, since the one he was using didn't smell very good!" He began coming to school reeking of "AXE" or one of those other gross "man perfumes". Not really an improvement! lol

(Note to GC kids- Don't hotbox on the way to school. You WILL still reek when you get there. Not everyone in education is willing to ignore the obvious. ;) )

  6. Yea usually high THC sativa strains have worked best for me. But I only need one hit to get desirable results if im smoking, any more than that and I start getting higher than I would prefer when working on important things that have to get done. And I have been a daily toker for the past 6mo or so, with a few small breaks here and there.

Just remember to use small amounts, a little dab will do. I can make like .5 last all week long using one hit before class, a swish of mouthwash, and good to go:smoke:

And I have ADD, not ADHD.

  7. I'm an ADD/ADHD guy. I can read 30 magazines a month cover to cover but at 31 years old have never read a book. I get bored on page 5, skip paragraphs at page 7, done at page 9. But can read a magazine cover to cover in a sitting. I have dozens or hundreds of thoughts spinning in my head all the time interupting the other things I'm thinking about. If I smoke, it blocks those other things out and lets me focus. I find THC in general slows my interupting thoughts and lets me focus on what I'm doing.
