we have not said one word to each other in almost 2 years. more than a year ago we got in a big fight and ever since then its been bad. he hated me years before that fight and so did i, but we at least talked a bit. we just kept our distance, we are in the same family so of course we are always near each other but we just do not acknowledge each other. i am 2 years older than him and now in college in another state. today he messaged me on facebook saying he hates that we dont talk and how he wants us to be like real brothers and that he is sorry for everything. this just shocked me and i have no idea how to respond, like he went off on me and punched me multiple times cussed me out and was always hating on me, and now that he realizes im a cool person and all his friends like me and we like the same things he wants to talk now what should i say
Talk to him obviously, I'm not extremely close to my sister but we know we'd at least be there for each other, but I envy everyone that has openly close relationships with their siblings.
I haven't talked to my "brother" (he's actually my stepbrother, but my dad married his mom like 10 years ago then adopted him) since we were little kids. A few weeks ago I was partying with a guy that goes to the same school as him and he was talking about how much he hates my brother. I actually stood up for him, saying he's not that bad and that he's a lot cooler than he used to be. Then I find out they talked, and the guy even told him I was sticking up for him and everything. My "brother's" response was "I hate him, he just sits around and does drugs." Shit pisses me off.
Man, you never know when a life can end. Don't go out like that, man. You'll regret it if something bad happens and you and your brother were on bad terms when it did. Trust me.
Id say go for it. He is no longer angry, and unless you are let the past be the past. Saying that, Id suggest if it what a large issue over what you fought over, that you guys should talk about it. Pretending to forget about shit that happened works until one of you has a reason to bring it up, and it might ignite the whole fire. Just my two cents, good luck bro, these situations are touchy.
Me and my brother are like this. We just dont talk. We never had a fight or falling out or anything like that, i just dont like him, hes knows this, thats that. Same with the rest of my family.

One time, I asked my bro to use headphones. He started to flip shit, and 2 minutes later he smashed my laptop. We haven't had a conversation in over a year. Whatever, he's a bitch. I have other brothers anyways.
