really are the best. After experimenting with other carbon filters, the slitted dome thing they have in their carbon filter works 100% in significantly reducing drag and is not a gimmick at all. The price tag is worth it imo. Regular disc diffused or 4 hole carbon filters can easily have all of the holes plugged by carbon, and other carbon filters require screens. Highly recommend McFinns to anyone looking for a carbon filter without significantly affecting drag. Just thought I would share this discovery as I switched from a custom CF back to McFinns just recently.
I was wondering what is so great about these? Carbon can, in fact, adsorb THC, which I would think is bad thing. Looking at that design, I don't see how the smoke can even go through the carbon since the cross or holes are so high up in the bed. There's not much drag because it's not going through the carbon and therefore there is no pressure drop. So does this thing actually do anything?
Just picked one of these up last week. I have been smoking through it exclusively since. A few benefits I have noticed so far 1) my bong stays ridiculously cleaner. I'm fairly OCD about keeping my pieces clean. I think I'm on day three now and it doesn't even really look like its been used. The longest I would have went before is two days. Especially using my pinch slide. 2) I can feel the difference in my lungs and throat. I cough less and less severely. 3) my girlfriend, who is mildly asthmatic, has had dramatically less coughing. She has been able to take hits that are way bigger than she normally could. Of course she has been SUPER stoned lately lol!
AM I DOING IT WRONG?! haha, this is a pic from when i obtained my current set up. I love the mcfinns filter, but as you can see i don't nearly benefit as much from it as you'all. I didn't know that my piece was a direct inject slide at first, so i ordered it. However. It works perfectly great upside down, though I have do have to replace the carbon about once every 2 days.
did my post not clarify that?
No it did. You joked about it, so I was joking about it with you . My DG is a direct inject but it came with a chimney adapter, basically a double female joint adaptor. Maybe you can get something like that.
nice i'll definitely have to look for that. ESPECIALLY because today in fact i broke my mcfinn filter, while cleaning slipped out of bag and into the sink, it survived quite a few bumps and i had always been impressed with the thickness but i guess enough was enough... boom. time to go shopping
just ordered the ultra, with adapters and keck clips.
Nice! I wish mine was the ultra. Let us know how it goes man
They filter out a lot of resins and tars in the smoke keeping both your lungs and your bong cleaner and they don't remove thc because it's not polar carbon only filters out polar chemicals
Does McFinn's carbon have to be activated with water?? I know cleaning it before hand to remove the dust is critical, but is there a difference with using McFinns coconut carbon wet or dry??
