i had been thinking for a long time but nevr really had the bright idea to ask an admin about it. but here goes, in the User CP area we have a lot of different things that are kept track of like threads you are subscribed to and ones you have posted in, your groups, blogs, infractions, reputations, but i was wondering if you could maybe make it possible to see a list of threads in which you have been quoted. i mean it would be simple, in theory, to have it possible considering that when you hit the 'quote' button in a post then it automatically write a code to have the quote box and who is being quoted. so wouldnt it be just a few more lines of coding to tell the system to report to the user being quoted that he is being quoted in their CP? im sure its not that easy otherwise it probably would have been done, but it would be nice to have that notification. its just that sometimes i have been quoted, and not realized it till i went back into that thread, but often times i dont get back into a thread till way latercuz i just dont have anything to say. but if i had been quoted, it might illicit a response and thus i would have something to say. sometimes it could be helpful because when i have been quoted before that often means that the person didnt quite understand what i mean and then is asking for clarification. or maybe they are trying to call me out on what i had said and so i should have to opportunity to discuss the disagreement. but i would otherwise not know that this is going on unless i was notified. it could work like the rep system really. just a list of what threads they are in, what dates, who hit the quote me button, and the first line or so of what the quoted is saying. that would be so much easier to track than going one by one to the threads in which i may or may not have much else to. just a thought
It's a good idea. The problem is whether the forums will allow the function. And i don't think its an option at the moment. But SJ is updating soon. So maybe it will be then.
i 2nd this request.. that is a good idea man i don't always go back and check threads i posted in, so it would be nice to see if i have been quoted/ replied to.
i dont care what the limits are. just do it already. if you please. vbulletin is a basis format, kind of like the laws of physics. physics can be manipulated, why cant software code be changed too. im sure its a lot easier than say trying to make a hunk of metal take flight.
It can be changed, but I don't think superjoint wants to use hacks or anything so if you want this feature as standard you're barking up the wrong tree.
