Just got one of these. Looked good for my 3x3 grow coming up. Except it says bloom at 48" for 2.5x2.5... Anyon ever use this model? Ive read lots of good reviews. This is my first ever LED light so im excited. Sent from my LGMP260 using Grasscity Forum mobile app
You would need another to flower in a 3x3. It’s old LED technology though. HPS will produce better quality but it’s hot. Quantum boards are your best value at about a dollar per watt
Yea im trying to phase out of the hps and mh as its easier for me to maintain consistent temps, especially for a DWC grow. So down sizing exhaust, tent, lights is the mission while maximizing results. Perhaps i can get away with one of these lights plus a couple LED strip lights or a couple 100watt cfl's.
I also went LED after doing some reaserch. I am in full control of my tent using a 2400w LED light. I didnt want to battle the heat. However I have been doing more research and your 600w LED is only actually 254 watts. They have been telling me thats what to actually base the comparison to. So if you bought another you would be just over 500 true watts. My 2400w is nice becuase of the size, its 34" long so it has good coverage but its under 500 actual watts, so alot of people have been saying its not going to be enough for what I am trying to achieve. If you have the funds I would buy another and say screw the strips and CFLs or you can do what soil is saying. the new quantum boards are supposed to be pretty legit, but can add up pretty quick with the boards, and driver etc. You could start with the light you have but it probably wont be enough to produce an awesome yield by itself
You just opened a new realm for me man haha. I didnt realize they were kits. Also it was my understanding that the light worked different than a HID where the actual wattage drawn isnt necessarily as relevant as it is with an HID. Hence the energy benefits. 600watt equevelent led drawing 125 watts is more efecient than a 600watt hid drawing 600watts. Sent from my LGMP260 using Grasscity Forum mobile app
I appreciate the input. These quantom board kits looks pretty nifty. Although im totaly new to LED stuff, i may not be handy enough haha and i was excited on the power savings also. Seems in reality there really isnt any power saving if you have to match the actuall watts to what you would normaly use with HID's.
Those blurple led to HID equivalent numbers are BS. All you need to pay attention to are actual watts. 50 actual watts per square foot for flower for blurple and HID lighting. 35 watts per sf for quantum boards and cob LEDs.
Yes the quantum boards are kits, but their is sites you can but them assembled but they cost more. But wheres the fun in that? lol. Alot of people are switching to the boards, it seems to be the new advancement in technology. When it comes to LEDs I am new to all of this, this is my first indoor grom right now. Alot of people kinda shaming the LEDs, one of my best friends been growing a long time. Uses 3 1000k HPS and swears by them, says LED cannot perform the same. I was just telling you what I had heard about them bro. It is far too early to tell you how my 2400w is doing, but I will say one thing I had it too close on full power and it did yellow all my girls and stunted the shit out of their growth so be sure to keep it away lol But good luck man, hopefully it is enough. I know they say it will replace a 600w MH/HPS but alot of experienced growers argue those statements. The one I bought is supposed to replace 1500w DE HPS but alot of guys on here said I dont have enough light in my tent for 8 girls. I may end up buying another 2400w. would give a little over 900 true watts. Heres a couple of my girls this morning under my LED
Have you considered amending your soil with 30% perlite, is that in coco? And transplant she’s suffering suffocating where she is now️good luck Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk @ I love growing weed
That makes sense. Like how CFL's claim a similar rating. Could you send me a link to the 4 pack you mentioned? I appreciate the help and advice for sure. Im gonna look into these boards. See if i feel comfortable with them. If i dont. i could just buy another maxsisun. Im only growing one plant in a 3x3 with a WHOLE LOT of lst'ing and working it into a 3x3 scrog net.
I have been getting advice to switch to perlite mix. No CoCo, They are in an organic soil that has perlite in it but not the %s people are using. I have been debating on larger fabric pots and if I do that I will do a different soil and stronger perlite mix Why do you think they are suffocating right now?
The soil looks dense their extremely stunted, are the little main stems kinda woody, something shut them down, ph water, did soil come with built in nutes ? Did you feed maybe overwater ️good luck Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk @ I love growing weed
Looking real nice. so is quantum the brand name? Im looking up these kits and i see all kinds of similar stuff. Some have loaw ratings or no ratings at all.
Yes sir they are extremely stunted. I believe from have my light WAY too close for too long. I have been PHing my water, staying around 6.2 - 6.3, just PHd the runoff as well. the runoff was a little low, was about 5.8 on the 2 I tested. I just gave them a heavy watering with Advanced Nutrients Iguana Juice and they seemed to like it. I did water a little heavy to get runoff to PH but they are looking alot healthier right now then a few days ago. I am convinced that my Light was way too close. it actually yellowed/browned most leaves on most the girls. I took some bad advice, someone said my LED needed to be as close as possible like a t5 and I listened and it was not good input at all. Heres some pictures of my 2400w LED before I brought it way up. it burned the hell outta my girls and I believe that is what stunted their growth but I am open for advice/tips
If I remember you’re in the 4x8 tent? You would need between 1300 and 1600 real watts with blurple or HID lighting for that space. Also, the light in your pics has too much red in it for vegging. You’ll want to focus on the blue spectrum in veg and the red in bloom. I’d suggest a T5 setup in 6500k or a 5000k quantum board setup to veg properly And it looks like the quantum boards are sold out on amazon at the moment
Type Horticultural lighting group Quantum is what they call the boards, lights in pic are 4-132 qb’s 4 pack on amazon $133 get a driver LRS 350-36 also amazon $38 get some ratcheting hangers, build a frame from shelving rail or small aluminum angle 18ga wire 300v rating. It’s so easy to hook them up, minutes️ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk @ I love growing weed
Yessir I am in a 4x8. I think before I go into flowering I will have to buy another light or just use half of the tent, I went with a 4x8 to maximize space but I didnt think about my lighting at the time. I did purchase a light mover to get the most out of my light but I think you are right. I may try another 2400w and put them both on the mover, would give me 900 true watts and double the coverage. I also have a 1200w LED that is 346 true watts but I may put that in the Veg tent. You are on to something about my lighting looking like it has alot more red, might be a huge part of my slow growing as well. Has almost triple the red. here is the info from the website right here; Full Spectrum led grow light: the color ratio is samilar to the sunlight, include red, blue, white, IR and UV. (Red 164pcs, Blue 56pcs, white 16pcs, UV2pcs, IR2pcs; NOTE: the UV IR led is not very bright but it's helpful for flowering)
