So every guide for making a tongue out there tells you something like: 30 g cannabis in 500 ml alcohol. But that equate to how many grams THC / CBD? I think this is a much more important number because of the difference in strains and especially if you want to make your own personal ratio mixture from not only buds but also from concentrates or crystal. So reformulating the question: What's the highest possible amount of THC/CBD in g capable of being extracted through alcohol?
30 grams of cannabis in 500 ml of alcohol (151, 190, 200 proof) gives you 30, 000 X 15 %= 4, 500 mg THC/ 80% (extraction) = 3, 600 mg/500 (ml alcohol)= 7.2 mg THC per ml. This is a fairly weak tincture unless you have no tolerance. You would reduce it to your required strength. We calculate all bud at 15%. If you know how strong your cannabis is you would substitute that number for the 15%. We also figure you extract 80% cannabinoids. I would reduce this to 60 ml for a potent tincture with an estimated 60 mg THC per ml. 120 ml would give you 30 mg/ml. Both concentrations are quite potent and require careful dosing. The 7.2 mg/ml may suit you just fine. These calculations do not take into account the alcohol that remains in the saturated bud. I would divide 3,600 mg by the amount of alcohol you end up with after straining. If you got 450 ml back you would divide 3,600/450 = 8 mg/ml. I don't think we know the upper limit of extraction for alcohol. At least I don't know, perhaps someone will come along who does know. Good luck with your tincture. Let us know how it goes.
P'Sam has some saturation data in his thread The saturation point is really high and he did multiple runs using the same solvent He did have to add fresh etoh to complete the experiment but the results were positive You only need enough etoh to cover the material for an efficient extraction You can separate your material and use the same solvent and do multiple runs Unless your processing large amounts this method may be cumbersome and doesn't save a lot of solvent IMO Direct answer is that we do not know the full potential It is high but using the same solvent that is already loaded is a pain unless you are processing large amounts Again my opinion
=======quote https://www.scientificedibles.com/ Results Your 500ml of Alcohol contains approximately 2,835mg THC and 101.3mg CBD ===========end This will be in the unstrained state.
sounds like too much alcohol. if U R gonna reduce/concentrate it why use more alcohol than it takes to cover & mix the weed??? you're just gonna burn it off anyway?
According to this website, this is the way to go. So yeah. I wonder too. How To Make Cannabis Tincture: Step-By-Step Guide - Zamnesia Blog But apparently no one knows for sure what the maximum number of cannabinoid moleculs can you bind to a butter/alcohol molecule.
